i just got back from 9 days in the dam (11 years inna row! need any advice in traveling there im your guy! hah)..i spoke with many employees at many coffesops about what's going on with the weedpass....to a t they all say the same thing. it's a joke and despite what any judge says will never be enforced. the dutch government is fucked...witness the recent collapse... and is in a transitional phase. post 9/11 dutch govt turned to a more conservitive direction. however the dutch unlike us in america arent stupid and willing to waste decades fixing problems so there is now a shift back to the more liberal policies that make the netherlands one of the best places in the world to live....the weed pass is gonna be DOA when the new dutch govt gets settled.

also...liberty haze @ barney's and hashplant @ dampkring are pure FIRE!

Wishful thinking on the part of the Coffeeshop owners and patrons. Where is this "liberal shift" you speak of? I see it not.

How many coffeeshops in Amsterdam alone have been closed over the last 10 years? Nearly half of 'em. Now they'll have a good reason to shutdown the other half, esp. if the coffeeshops ignore the new rules.

Yes, a new gov't could change things, but as you can see the DEA has the Dutch gov't over a barrel when it comes to drugs.

Funny how the Dutch actually think they can still change drug policy in the Netherlands.

They don't realize it's all done behind closed doors...just like in the US.

The Dutch public have as much ability to change their policies as Americans have to change their Federal Drug laws...

DEA makes all the rules these days, every country follows it so they can get paid off by the US DEA.

Nobody turns down DEA money except for a few South American countries like Venezuela, Ecuador, Argentina and Bolivia, who've all elected socialist governments.

Beautiful, clean, they love beer and pig, and well, pot is legal, as are all drugs.

hmmm i personally think your massively over estimating the DEA and there influence , were not talking about a tin pot country in south America here , this is Europe , imo the DEA have nothing to do with it at all not in the slightest , its simply an expression of the Dutch disenchantment with the far left ! see i think the majority of Dutch people don't want there country to be a destination for drugs tourists , so the country is moving more to the right , there are lots of issues that are the reason for the switch to the right ! its happening in Europe as a hole

I think it is quite a bit more complicated than this. Seems there are several reasons all adding up to the new policy. One of which is the resentment of immigrants. Especially those seen to be getting rich off the drug trade eith illegal or legal.

Perfect really. We all fight against each other while the status quo remains. Almost like it was planned this way.......

that's why i said there are many reason behind it , immigration is a big factor that's true , allot of people dont agree with the neo liberal melting pot ideal , in Holland esp its a big problem

Doesn't matter if it's a tin pot country or not. Every politician can be bought off, they've been doing it for 4 decades now, works in every country.

Do you think Mexico which has lost like 40,000 people to drug cartel violence would like to legalize all drugs? Of course they do! But the politicians only admit it after they leave office and once they're no longer on the DEA payroll...

Go ask Manuel Noriega how things work with the DEA and what happens to you when you don't play ball with them...

Yes but Mexico is right next to the US, in Europe we have our own gangsters operating under the name EU....

I think that the Dutch will take this ban about as seriously as the one on smoking tobacco in bars. That is not very

but with all dew respect its not the same , its night and day , the DEA have no clout here in Europe , they cant influence policy in rich European country's , Europe has a hole is richer than America i think you been reading to many conspiracy theory books lol

of course America its self has certain amount of clout and influence , but the idea of the DEA dictating Dutch policy is total garbage to be honest

Tourist Ban In Dutch Pot Cafés Upheld

May 1, 2012 | ISSUE 48•18

A law prohibiting everyone but Dutch natives and permanent residents from visiting marijuana cafes was upheld in court last week. What do you think?

Wow, they must have a lot of faith in their tourism board’s ability to talk up soused herring.

Great. Now what the hell am I supposed to do with my early 20s?

That’s okay. I find it’s best to stay sober and alert while visiting Amsterdam so that you can find the best prostitutes.
