Thanks for the replies all!

I'm mainly looking to broaden my knowledge of late 60's & early 70's materail. Kinda that "rebellious vietnam era" music but I will check out all suggested. I know there are other really good groups from that era that do not get the household name exposure of hendrix, doors, stones, ccr etc etc

Marino started his set out with Voodoo Chile and ended it with Amazing Grace... 3 1/2 hours later... he played virtually non-stop except for the obligatory bass and drum solos. The man can improvise... get yourself some... you wont be disappointed.

frank marino is indeed an amazing guitar player and he's been around
almost forever. the first time i saw him play was around 1980-81
i saw him play quite a few times but not recently. its good to know
that he's still actively playing.
frank marino cd's are fine , especially the live one
but as you and i both know there's nothing like seeing him live
thanks for mentioning him...i'm gonna keep my eyes open to see if he's playing my area

And now...... let's go back a few years..... to Da Man that all these cats were listening to:

John Lee Hooker

Suggested album: The Very Best of John Lee Hooker

Suggested song: Dimples

He sounds as fresh and cool now as I'm sure he sounded then. In later years, he even did an album with Canned Heat.

Give 'The Hook' a listen and you'll hear where it all started.

He has recorded music with Carlos Santana (among others) that is also pretty good !

Ten Years After is a good band from that time. I'm 40 but most of what I to
is music from the Woodstock-era. Also, Janis/Big Brother & the Holding Company.
