LOL, 49 myself! Not feeling too spry right now after emergency surgery a few weeks back. This getting old shit takes some getting used to!
The surgeon I met with in Dec. gave me enough of a scare that I started a 'med-grow' 1/1/04.

Been trying to grow since I was 17, but didn't get commited til the mid-80's.
Wife doesn't smoke (She'll eat a brownie every now and then :p ) and after "Operation Green Merchant" she lives in fear of our losing our house. For my part, I don't sell, just make a few friends extremely happy. I do an indoor grow every few yrs as needed, but my discovery of the internet "Green Underground" has me jonsing to keep a perpetual garden and reach out to med patients. (easier said then done)
So that's my old fart introduction. Some of you know me as RNV on OG. Same signature, words to live by!

the tough part

the tough part

the fallout from my stroke is largely survivable. the chf means I need to loose serious weight and eat no salt. I'm not having fun right now, and it's months before the lifesaver comes home.

LOL, I got some Lifesaver's going too as well as a William's Wonder. When I was in the hospital, I told my wife to water the open tray (LS's), but she went ahead and watered the W'sW, which were still under a humidity dome, so that pretty much did 'em in!
Got some Herijuana and Skywalker for Medi-stash, but damn I love my sativas!
Thx for the welcome Gunny, and best health to you, left hemi. I hear ya on the diet. Had a ft of colon removed, shittin' thru a bag temporarily. Reverse procedure in 3 mo.
Still, life changes in store down the road, diet and over-all health as well as a new vocation.

ah crap, im old too!

ah crap, im old too!

hey guys (gals) whats up? signed up last night but didnt have time to join this conversation.

so here goes ... born in '58 to typical midwestern nuclear family. of course i relate to everything you guys are talking about. i think alot if not most folks had similar experiences growing up in the 60's - 70's. hated high school, loved weed, hoped my brother didnt have to go to nam!

always ran around with "bad boys" LADIES YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN! my parents didnt understand what i saw in them. started growing outdoor around 1980ish i guess. i did have great success getting them BIG, but i really didnt do too well in the finishing of my grows. because of my lack of knowledge in the proper technics of drying/curing i grew mostly to defy the gov. ... i grew cause i was able to! thank G-D (or was it al gore) for the internet. now, i have soooo much growing knowledge at my fingertips that i cant possibly fail.

anyways ... i grow outdoors in the summer starting with seed in dirt in May. grow indoors under fluro - HPS from Oct on.

now me and my old man smoke for pain reilef, or so we say ... LOL. both of us for knee pain and me for lower back pain also. he was a carpet installer and blew out his knees when he was in his early 20's. they just have gotten soooo bad that he can hardly walk this past year. we cant stand being doped up from med that the MD prescribes. its tooo strong to let us function and its addictive. HEY I MADE IT THREW THE 80's NOT GETTING ADDICTED TO ANYTHING ILL BE DAMNED IF I ALLOW MYSELF TO DO IT NOW. wish the medical establishment understood the benefits fo MMJ.

so in the end i guess its true ... we do all revert to our youth when we get old. i havent had this much fun since my brother turned me on to "Body Bag" ...

see ya around ...

Hi Mauie

Hi Mauie

Hope everyone knows that Lifesaver does save. :) It numbs my ass and puts me right to sleep. ;)

Mauie, I am just a couple years older than you and I am glad to have both of you here. We are winning the war of minds regarding marijuana and so it's just a matter of time before it is legal everywhere. I make this point in the first issue of International Cannagenetics Printed magazine to be released in a couple weeks or less.

I hope we can help you 2 out some... BOG :)

damned doctors

damned doctors

when I was in rehab for my stroke, I was totally straight with my doctors about my predilections. essentially that I like a good buzz, up to and including, coke and pharmaceuticals. I was in a fair amount of pain, at the least little whimper, they'd hit me with a perc, untill I finally said "stop! bad enough I'm gonna leave a gimp, I don't want to leave an addict."

Ha ha, those Percocet's really mess me up! I complained to my Doc and he gave me a script for Dilaudid! Like those better, for functional activity! In the hospital I was on a morphine drip. I abused it out of boredom, but got real tired of being asked where my pain level was. Now home a few weeks, I'm off all that shit. I have any pain now, it's the Skywalker (poorly named, me thinks! More like Dirtcrawl!) or the Herijuana that helps.
Welcome mauie!

I see some OGOF'rs and I see some folks I'm looking forward to getting to know. I've never been so rich that I couldn't use a new friend in my life...

I grew up in the fourth poorest county in the U.S. (at the time) and had a Chernobyl Childhood that later manifested itself as MPD. I have seven primary personalities, so I'm never too tired to entertain ;).

Went to high school but my parents didn't think I was worth sending to college, as my two older brothers had already flunked out and there was no way I could be as bright as either of those turds. I went into the U.S. Navy just as Reagan was getting started with the build-up. It was an exciting time until the Navy decided it was going to wage a witch hunt for every potential doper (and nobody parties as hard as the good ol' USN, notwithstanding the achievements of our humble mod.) and I was a troublemaker. I didn't like my job (killing people with wizzbang weapons including the all-time crowd pleaser), got in trouble a lot and was finally honorably discharged for medical reasons (they knew I was nuts).

Got out. Met my wife. She is 17 years my senior and brought four (4) kids into our relationship. We adopted a couple of strays and provide foster homes for kids who are going thru family issues and just need a safe place to be loved. We're nuts about kids. Today I have 8 grandkids and have been insanely in love with Mrs. MPD. Just celebrated our 20 year mark.

I'm one of those assholes you meet who has a real high I.Q. I run my own business (business consulting) and generally am I pain in the ass, but someone has to do it. Business has been bad to worse since 9/11, but I think I see light in the tunnel. We'll talk about termination points of said light when I can tell I'm going to survive.

I'm a real spiritual person who enjoys a fabulous relationship with God, though I do not ascribe to any religious sect. I'm very interested in giving back to the community that has supported me so much.

I just started a garden in October that is finishing up now. I have a converted bathroom in my garage bonus room where I have about 13 sf of bloom area that I light with a 1000 watt AGrosun Gold Deluxe bulb, custom-built my own odor management system, and just got thru bending my own stainless steel air-cooled hood for the fun of it.

That's me.

I'm glad to meet all of you and will be posting here and there to test the waters and find the forum I'll hang out in...

Namaste!

Ya been through the wringer and sucked up alot of information, knowledge and experiences... Sounds like you are a better man for it. I'm pleased and proud to have ya here my friend....

Your water curing method has me really interested. I'm gonna give it a shot next week. I have a couple of Gypsy's G-13 backcrosses ready to harvest (They smell kind of "kushy.")

Grab a pillow, sit down, fire one up and anytime you wanna tell a story, Please do so!

I turned 49 on Valentines Day. A couple of good ole buddies picked me up at 3 pm for a birthday drink. At our sixth bar, out of the blue, I started to hit it off with this blond haired, blue eyed. sexy, little fox. That don't ever happen for a geezer like me. She asks ME to dance. The ole lizard starts to come out of hibernation. I start to think. I'm hammered but still maintaing, I'll be the perfect gentleman, after all its like baseball. I'm on second with an easy standup double. Play it cool, set up a date, spend a wad of cash, then I'll steal third. Repeat the strategy. Home plate is now close, there are no outs, and with any fly ball, I'm home easily. I'll be licking her like a Popsicle on a hot August day.

Perfect, absolutely perfect. My tactical response to the situation and strategic plan did not need readjustment. Wait and be patient. I went to the boys room to drain the lizard. When I returned, she was gone. One of the big drunken gomers I was with spooked her out of the bar. A true story.

GUNNY, I THINK I'M IN LUV. CAN YOU GIVE ADVICE FOR A LOVE SICK GEEZER? Dr LAURA thinks I'm a dirty old man.
