High Old People! My name is Gunny and I love Marijuana...

A little bit about me…

I enlisted in the USMC in 1977 at the age of 18. I spent my entire career in the Intelligence field, specializing in various forums of Cryptology. I spent time in just about every Non-Warsaw pact country. My favorite duty was the three years I spent in Scotland working with elements of the Royal Navy. I achieved the rank of Master Gunnery Sergeant but use the handle Gunny because it was my favorite rank. The two promotions after that were mostly pushing paper and dealing with idiots.

I retired in 1998. Took a six month vacation and entered the civilian work force for the first time in my adult life. I work for a International Corporation as their Commercial and Retail Liaison. I am either visiting different clients or work out a small office in my home. My boss lives almost 1900 miles away… Hence, as long as I am accomplishing my mission, I work on my own… I love it!

I have been a single parent to my 15-year-old daughter since she was six months. We have not discussed my love for cannabis yet. The room where my grow is has been off limits. We are open about everything and when the time comes, whether it is her, or me initiating I will be honest, truthful and patient.

I started smoking marijuana when I was 16 years old. I also smoked quite a bit during the first four years in the USMC. In 1981, the Military commenced “Operation Golden Flow” (aka Piss Tests for THC). My smoking between 81-98 was cut drastically averaging about only ¼ OZ a year.

One of my retirement presents (from another USMC retiree) was a nice 8" one hitter bong and an Oz of weed…. Thus another chapter in my life had begun.

I began growing a few plants in the back yard the year I retired. Just ol’ bag weed seeds. My best harvest was in 2000 when I got about one pound off four plants… I think it was sometime during that fall when I discovered OG….

I no longer grow outdoors. I am a simple indoor dirt farmer. My veg chamber is 4X4X4 and I use a combination of compact and tube floros. I maintain small 4X3X4 flowering chamber I call the “Torture Chamber.” It uses twin 150 HPS. I only use organic ferts. I use the five set (1 gal) bubble bag set to make hash.

I don’t sell any of my harvest. Obviously there isn’t a whole lot there… LOL I do enjoy trading and giving it away with a small circle of trusted friends.

My hobbies include, Guitar, Banjo, deep sea fishing (I live on the SE ICW), Carving wood and soapstone, chasing butterflies and of course gardening…

That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!

Semper Fidelis (USMC motto meaning “Always Faithful’) and Stay Safe my friends.
Gunns.

Okay, okay Gunny....but just because YOU aksed....LOL

I definitely remember when White Rabbit wasn't something running through the fields. Oh, I remember also having 'fallout' shelter drills in school where we had to get under our desks and put our hands over our head.....like that would have prevented any harm...LOL

Yeah, I'm a lady who decided early on in high school how much fun it was to grow (back in early seventies). Somehow I was a wiz in school, learning came easy (I was one of those 'honor roll' kids) :p The 4.0 gpa got me placed in an accellerated academic program where I completed 1 year of college concurrent with my senior year in high school. whewwww, that was tough, and at the same time working weekends at the Tasty Freeze serving munchies in the drive through window to all my pals who were stoned while I was stuck working  But, that was the agreement I made with my father, he bought me a car, but I had to pay the insurance (his idea of teaching me financial responsibility...lol)

What was my college major....what else.....Botany and Agriculture Science. I opened a retail florist and greenhouse, propogating my own plants....and that's how it all started.

Bored yet, Gunny? :D

Hey Gunny-

I'm a wood carver and an avid outdoorsman. I carve my own duck decoys. Its a great winter pastime.

DutchGrown-

I remember the nuclear attack drills in grade school. Like the Soviets were going to target the grade school in a town of 800. The teacher would draw a front view of an ICBM on the black board so if we saw one out the window we could get under our desk. I literally had nightmares for years.

Pot cured me of migrane head aches. The pain would be so intense I'd vomit. When one was coming on a couple of tokes eliminated it immediately. Better than Demerol or (yuk!) a seconal supository. No rectal rockets for this boy.

I just completed the mid point of a masters degree program. The 20-30ish Yuppie scum ain't got nuthin on me. I'm otta room.

..... gunny you a great storyteller, i enjoy your bio for sure. semper fi.
..... i was born at camp le juene usmc and consequently endured 18 yrs of boot camp. lol!!!!! i had a medical deferment, 1-Y that kept me outta the nam, and those 18 yrs w/crusty ol staff sgt/dad were enough for me. hence, no military service for hgc. but, i became a freedom fighter of sorts, w/some wild excursions in south america and me he ko!!!!! but all the mj i've consumed over the yrs sorta made me forget mi espanol. pero, puedo hablar un poco, mejor dicho, bien bastante por hablar con la gente que fumando marijuana. me entiendes?????
..... so yea, i fought the war in the streets, fact, i'm still fightin' it, ....., LEGALIZE!!!!!
..... was married once back in the early '80's, but, freedom fighting and living w/woman whose idea of roughing it while camping, was not bringing along a long enuff extension cord for her blow dryer. consequently, i got the boot. now i just chase young girls and get snubbed for being a callous degereate old fart, but, it's strange, they do like me ganja.
..... i been growing herb outdoors since '68 or '69 w/some success, but i got tired of planting enough for the ground hogs, the thieves, and leo. so i switched to indoor gardening.
... had some success there, but i was basicly doing it like a blind idiot until somebody suggested i go online and learn how. lol, the rest is history. i love growing and smoking and i can't wait until i can do it legally in my home state. i got injured on the job back in '89, i do structural ironwork, lol, WHEN THE ECONOMY is such that peep wanna build stuff. but, you know how that is, as a result, i've had a lotta time in the last couple of years to refine my growing skills. for sure. as a result of that injury, i am into a pain management type thingie, and, IF, i lived in cali, i could/would grow some mean ganja, LEGALLY THANX TO PROP 215??? I think thas it, but, they drive too fast out there for me.
..... anyways, i'm sure i bored y'all to tears, so i sign off and let the next oldster step up to the plate and give ya his/her's life stories, and possibly another trip down MEMORY LANE. kind of a crowded street, at least 'round here...
..... peace

49 year old Alternative Medicine convert

OK, I was a smart lad who never had to try hard in school to do well but I didn't want to work for a's so I was just a good student who occasionally was a disciplinary problem. Nothing has changed :)

I spent 5 years in college with no degrees earned but I have held several Licenses and Certifications to do different jobs.

Married at 18 to my HS sweetheart we have been intimate for 35 years now and we are very tight today still. We have one 28 yr old son now and he has 2 little kids and a wife now.

I was a trucker, owner-operator of 2 semi trucks and i hauled swinging beef, Chickens and frosen food as well as all types of dry frieght. Quit trucking and went back to school to become a paramedic and worked in same hospital for over 16 years. My work was in the ER and out on the Ambulance so I learned the basics of medicine and I was fully ACLS certified administer advanced life support.

My work broke my heart however and I worked in Psych later which also broke my heart. My quad bypass was the point when my life changed. Quit smoking and became a fitness freak for years and I am a good skier. Now I am in Montana which means Mountain and I live in my dreamland.

No longer do I sell my buds but just my seeds for BOG Seeds through SeedsDirect but I started growing back when I met my girl in 1969. The summer of love...we were 15. I love her so much to this day it hurts to say...

We have had ufo encounters that were real in 1974 and I have had telepathy with an alien once as a child. My greatest question has been what are the ufo's? I think it is the question of our age actually.

I am a liberal politically but I have many family values. My family values aren't threatened by the values of others however. I mind my own business as far as what people do. I like freedom and my sympathy lies with labor and the poor of this world. Hopefully real change for the better can come in the new age.

Startind growing indoors after 7 years outdoors in about 1973 when the ufo's came I was already growing under 8 ft high output grow floros and my jamacians were lush as hell back then but my buds were always loose and I could never get good indica genetics. I experimented with my own lines for many years and I still have my first MH light from about 1974. It still works and is Hydrofarm. They should put this light in a museum. me too... :D BOG

This will be a little hard - as I am not extroverted normally. I grew up in a Texas city with an AFB. Back then we had B52's and so yes I can completely relate to the insane "duck and cover" drills. I was always inquisitive at a young age and wondered why I couldn't get an answer when I asked why we were cowering under our chairs - If the "bomb" was able to destroy everything within miles...... Being the heighth of the cold war, and that we were supposedly in the top 10 places to be hit first they were going to hit us with numerous warheads. I didn't see the point.

I served in the Army and then Air Force. It was enough for me to understand that I didn't like being the loyal soldier, when in essence, it was the morons in Washington that were giving the orders instead of the Military.

I had smoked before the military, but the pee test ended my smoking for years.

I spent the next decade or so working with computers. I am presently a systems engineer and sysadmin for a group of medical centers.

MJ helps me in numerous ways, from helping me not be uptight and extremely anti-social(eat your heart out Zoloft!) to dealing with some physical issues.

Most people in this forum are compassionate and helpful and almost none of them are judgemental. I wish I could say the same, of the local churches I attend less frequently than I should.
I would, that one day we could all meet, smoke and share together without pretense or animosity.

Thanks for the nice welcome, Bushy...

The layout of this place is eerily familiar...;)

Thanks for your kind offer, but I think that I'll just hang out for now. I've got a case of "Mod Burnout" that may take some time to run its course. LOL!

BTW...germed some of the LSD #1 and the Blue Moon Rocks last week. 100% germination rate with all of 'em in under 36 hours, and they're happily swaying in the breeze under the flouros right now. :D
