Legislation: Dubai is a police state and there is a zero tolerance policy to the usage of soft drugs is punishable by 4 years for possession and life terms with the possibility of death for cultivating and distributing, as well as police very strictly enforcing laws. If you are merely suspect to possession or use of weed you will be given high priority as a threat and will be otherwise till proven innocent. The laws on soft drugs are the same throughout the UAE though in Sharjah you may be given a warning and be put on probation if you are caught without any weed but fail your drug test. Having weed in your system still constitutes towards possession. Also Prescription drugs such as of the opiate class and Benzodiazepine are also considered narcotics unless you have been prescribed them from the UAE, so please be careful with bringing sleeping pills and other medicines with abuse potential.

law enforcement: the local police are very organized and place a huge deal of priority on any drug related offence, if you become suspect, you are considered guilty till proven otherwise. Also Plain Clothes CID officers are plentiful and are always on the look out, they are also tight knit with allot people and should they hear a rumor they will pursue it to the end. Another worry is potentially everyone is a narc, normal people will jump at the chance to report you to the police if you look stoned or suspect you using. Though on the better end random searches and checks are rare and even if your suspect police are not allowed to enter your home without a warrant no matter how serious the crime though they do knock on the doors are try to get you out, you don’t have to open if you don’t want to.

Dubai is a hole in the deasert, into which they are pouring a gazillion dollars to make habitable. Nothing comes from there it all has to be shipped in at an imence cost. Bunch of dumb fucks if you ask me! If I had that kind of money I'd buy a tropical island where things grow.

I'm waiting to hear they raided one of them 4 million dollar islands their building over there for alcohol consumption and put the owners in prison for life and confiscate their island back. They can keep it all, the deasert will blow back over it all and bury it!!!

I'm gonna laug my ass off when an alternative to oil is found, that's all they have to export! Then they can all go back to a bunch of poor fucks roaming the desearts and eating goats balls!!!

Alcohol may be illegal over there but you can buy it from one of the hundreds of bars out there. As fro you laughing your ass off when they run out of oil, well that is due around about 2015 or so. But unfortunately for you i dont think you will have much to laugh about since their revenue from oil is nothing compared to the money they rake in from other sectors now. The whole reason for the UAE being developed like it is is so that the county can survive without revenue from oil. Which they are doing perfectly so far. Dubai in it's self is already no longer really one of the big oil people. The surrounding emirates are but not for long. Extremely clever people. Personally i will laugh my ass off when the oil runs out because then the Bushes of this world will no longer have oil to steal off people and will have to resort to invading countries to steal alternate fuels. tehehe. (something about a bees nest and my foot, yes)
