what exactly are these inputs supposed to produce?

&

how are the results to be measured across the many different gardens & their variations?

excluding y.eld, how can a gardener describe the terrior, texture, aromatics, and/or filling capacity of these inputs? or lack thereof?...

how do gardeners guage the efficacy of microbes, chelates, humates, etc, etc...? are these purely for aromatics, taste, aesthetics, etc?

maybe could create a scale to measure these various 'enhancers' 'tonics' 'food grade items' 'feed grade items' etc...

Just to be clear, this just a simple side by side, the results would hopefully show some differences, what type?, I don't know, hence the side by side, I am not sure how gardeners gauge the efficacy of microbes etc, other than simply using them, I am sure there are 1% of gardeners who are scientifically minded who will go further into any subject, I call them 'teachers' ( I have you in there ) ), but seriously I think most gardeners, - forgetting weed a minute - try products for whatever reason, hype, friends recommendations whatever!, but stick or fold based on the results they see, no chromatograph or slide rule, just observations and then if it is a food item, taste and yield. I would hope, not that I expect, but would hope to see that Canna Boost produces buds 12 x bigger, stronger and more fragrant than Molasses, well! it costs 12x more!!!!, which brings me on to our Bonecarver :)

"I always thought it made sense that the Boost increases the metabolic rate and the Molasses fuels the process"
Mr B'
hehe i wish plants were that simple
biggrin.gif
BUT it is not so. this statement is very simplyfied and almost missleading.
I never said it was so, I said I always thought it made sense, it does!, make sense I mean!, It was in answer to this from darookie
With canna boost accelerating metabolism, it might help to feed more to see if that makes a difference. I had a K deficiency the day after I added boost, so it definitely does something. I am using both molasses and boost together, and noticing a much stronger smell than I had seen last round.

5Lts of Molasses for £7, fantastic!, thanks for the tip and the link :)

OK, the girls have been on their diets for a week, 2 weeks into 12/12 in total, not a lot to see so I wont post a load of pic's of stems, as there is a lot of haze in these plants the flowers do start slow, you can see here from this morning. I will start pulling each pair out to photo weekly from day 21, hopefully there will be something to see?

Hi all, first off Bonecarver I'm a big fan, and consider you as my greatest mentor so thanks for that. I've learnt more from your project eden thread than anywhere else. Anyway, were you suggesting panela be used in conjunction with blackstrap molasses, or just using one of them? If so what kind of ratio do you use. Thanks

Wait...What?

Week 3 into 4 is when my ph-related issues always started to show up. So, I'm looking forward to the next round of pics.

25 coins for 5 gallons (50 lbs/22.6 kg).

some of garden get only food+feed grade molasses. some get traditional gh fnb+floralicious bloom+kool boom. some get the combo of both. w/ 15ml/gal fnb - for those fictitious tomatoes:D

as the profile may suggest, it is very possible to use only a molasses combo for npk-ca-mg-s, etc. & nothing else... have done this for couple-few runs. incredible aromatics, reproductive gland production, and general vigor - in daydream...

the profile for food grade cane molasses:
wholesome sweeteners organic blackstrap molasses is here:
calculating npk/nutrient profile

*edit*
do not try consuming this stuff, unless you like non-sweet, pure nutrients. not made for humans. is bitter as dirt, stays on the palate long time. tried it; not pleasnat, but probably very nutritious...

hope this helps. enjoy your garden!

cant someone get a lab test of boost? Or would that small quantity be too costly to even send ;) !!!
ask the company.
they should answer any/all questions & supply detailed analysis - especially if purchased, or may purchase product...

why buy product, & then request info on it? get info 1st...

some co.'s dont offer specifics; refuse to give details. depends.
*edit*
what does bottle say ingredients are?

enjoy your garden!

Canna are really proper people, on our side, I have met some of them, chatted and have total confidence in them and their products, no problems in 15 odd years.

Side by side tests are even better, the only true way to go forward, thanks to HL and everybody else for their contributions.

Scientific testing is the way to really learn, seat of the pants knowlege can help, but is B$ in comparison to a real test.

I don't think they will give this particular one up, it just says derived from "sugar cane" or "sugar beet". Apparently it's brewed for 6 months, so I'm not sure how the composition changes during that time.

none...

feed grade molasses in water... (or other wholly replicable solution, possibly including epsom salts; or more if want stronger tonic).

no need to wait 6 months... not knocking company for making coins, but fully doable w/ basic items.

no magic to be discovered...

The overwhelming molasses sold in the US is 'sugar beet' molasses vs. 'sugar cane' molasses.

The USA hasn't grown any amount of 'sugar cane' for over 50 years. Sugar beets is the total deal.

And 'sugar beet' molasses can't POSSIBLY be 'sulphured' or 'unsulphured' given the manufacturing process involved.

may want to look into the current ag crops of louisiana, texas, california, pennsylvania, hawaii & florida.

all produce lots of cane molasses.

there is also citrus & wood molasses, among others. basically, want the residue after boiling nutritious organic material. extract nutritional part. end.

enjoy your garden!

Laughable at best.

Thanks for sharing regardless.

Do your homework on what is considered 'Lots' outside of your 'opinion'

Are you in anyway involved in agriculture or are you simply waxing philosophically?
