Critical Mass vs Chronic

Hello everyone, just hoping to find some opinions on this. I know with Mr. Nice's C.M. you get 18 seeds and Serious Seed's Chronic you get 11. But which is a better smoke? Trying to decide on what to order next and now that the boo has C.M. back in stock now may be the time to order.

Thanks in advance for everyone's thoughts!

cm is supposed to be better than ch - better qulity with same quantity (from what ive heard) but still chonic is a very good choice as a cash cropper or a high yielding strain.
the chronic ive grown out yielded insane, was quite potent but it lacked regarding taste!

Growing the Chronic right now and out of 4 ladies one is kinda frosty and looks to yield a lot! The others are look good but not as good as the previous one I mentioned. It will be February before I get a smoke report. Critical Mass is excellent as well from what I hear. Either way you go, you are going to get a great strain. Simon and Shanti both know what's up. :joint:

critical mass pisses on chronic imo,the chronic is a bland celery type and the cm has some great fruity phenos, both yeild very well and the right cm pheno is done in under 9wks ,so for me there's only gonna be one winner, even chronic hbyrids like double dutch are not much compared to cm.

my chronic yielded very good and the high was great too.
but was the worst taste of all strains i grew. tasted like cardboard and very harsh smoke too! but that couldve been because i had the whole drying/curing thing not figured out then i dont know.

if grew ou both!! The chronic was a well knowen dutch cut and it was very good..moster field and after a good cure the taste was okay! nothing special but a nice weed taste...the CM tasted a bit betther but i found it way less potenter than the CH....the ch was done in 60dayz with the biggest field i had1,2g/per watt !!

Chronic is hay! CM has some nice phenos but again some very bland ones too.

Might I suggest slider from Sagarmatha Afghan X NL we have grown this out a few times & kept a mother that held up to the yileds of Chron but way nicer high & Flavour...

I'll just chuck Misty into this mix as well...

Don't buy the chronic it's not gonna Be the shit Dr DRE & Snoop go on about.. CM however you will find gold in a pack and rest asured you will find what you want if you grow them properly these phenos vairy in yield taste growth patterns density all are incredible you pick the 1 that suits you sir..

I grew Chronic in '02 from seeds bought in person in A'dam around '99/00 and there was one pheno I had that noone would ever believe was Chronic....cuz it tasted really good and i'm a taste whore so take that for what it is. And that was back when they gave you 15 seeds per vial. But of the 15 I found a few straight up hermie-dominant plants as well as a trifoliate, which was hermie also if I remember correctly.

It's funny cuz I made a cross back then with a female Chronic that (at the time) showed zero hermie flowers and a male Yumbolt x Cafe Girl and I just recently started some of the seeds and low and behold, 2 of the 5 female Chron X YumCafe I put into bloom showed true male flowers (something i've never seen before) at the preflower sites. So it went female preflowers at nodes 5 and 6 and then node 7 started to sprout a little seperate branch/leaf and when I looked closer I swear it was an actual male bud...but it wasn't open yet so I just cut it off. Node 8 went back to normal female preflowers.

A part of me wanted to cut them down right there but I didn't because the taste is just too good and it's possible that the pollen is non-viable cuz i've seen it with other strains but those are just a few nanners towards then end of the bloom cycle...not a full on male bud ;)

The problem w/ Chronic IMO is you probably need to get lucky or grow out a bunch of seeds to find a keeper. I've never grown CM so I can't really comment except to say it's Shanti's work so you can't really go wrong.

Good Luck,
~DK

I bought the Chronic because I wanted a heavy yielder not tasty weed, I got other shit for that. If you want yield then Chronic or Critical Mass are up your alley. Chronic, Critical Mass, Original Misty, Big Bud, all these strains are known for weight, not taste and not high. Can you get a nice pheno that tastes decent and gets you ripped? Yes you can. I am sorry that some of you did not get those phenos, especially of Chronic, mine looks dank so far. In the end it's all down to what you wanna spend your money on. I didn't know about Shanti and bought the Chronic because of its name attached to the Hip Hop world. I wanted a heavy yielder that wasn't too powerful for an anytime smoke or party smoke. I don't regret my purchase but looking back I probably would have bought something else. :jont:

^^^^^^^^SUM GUD INFO :)

Ive been thinkin of buying CM,,,,,is it stinky CannaB?

Yeah they all smell like bin larden some of the not so skunky ones are the sweater tasteing phenos that I think are best there is a pheno with more frost than any ww honestly if I tried to sell it you would tell me that I was selling you sprayed buds they are that frosty.. The CM smell is classic it differs from burnt smell and fresh.8/10 I give this strain,,not a lot gets a 9 unless its organic in my eyes with 10/10 being the best ever..

Wow, well thanx for all the info ppl. Looks like CM is winning out so far. Just gotta decide if I want to go for weight, or smoke. I'm looking to the future and considering one of these two strains for 1 grow from now. It almost sounds like I should just stick with AK for now and wait for some blue kush or some more sourbubble.

Thx again for everyones input!

I've been searching high and low for some more info on this very question.

I picked up a cut of "chronic" at a dispensary in CA, I've never seen chronic offered at a club as its a more commercial weed I keep hearing, not that top shelf type cannaseur stuff. So I was kinda surprised.

anyways I grabbed a cut regardless and I've got it outside, the temps have been getting low (at least for CA) dropping down to the 40's however the chronic is my only strain that is INCREDIBLY purple. It is straight up violet purple with ZERO green on the buds, the leaves are 85+% green with hints of purple on some of the bigger fans.

Through all the pix I've seen on ICMag I dont see purple chronic.

This co op also had a cutting of Critical Mass though, they specified it was a "chunky purple pheno"

well this is DEFINITELY chunky as its clearly out-yielding everything else I've got running right now, and its the definition of purple.

first pic is a week or so younger than the 2nd
