DAY 4 (Transplant)
96 :canabis: DAYS REMAINING
Ph: 5.5, Temp: 86 F, PPM: , Humidity:

>>>The roots are growing like crazy and the clones look healthier than ever. I didnt take any pics because they pretty much look the same.

>>>I've decided to veg with about 80 watts of fluoro lighting (24/0), atleast for the next 2 weeks or so. Then i'll finish the last 2 weeks (or so) of the veg cycle with the halide (18/6). After that its 12/12 with the HPS, all the way to harvest. Right now, they dont need that much light and i'll save some money on electricity too.

GK, I took out the domes like you said, i too dont think the clones are gonna need them anymore.

DAY 5 (Transplant)
95 :canabis: DAYS REMAINING
Ph: 6, Temp: 79 F, PPM: , Humidity:

>>>Well today is day 5 and i think its safe to say that the 2 clones have fully recovered. If you were to look at them 10 days ago, you probably would've think its too late. The newest leaves show no sign of deficiencies, and the roots are growing before my eyes.

Both plants:

>>>Today i temporarily changed the lights to fluoro (80w), temps are alot lower:

>>>I got a question for you guys...Whats with the root discoloration? Is this something i should worry about? I'm thinking some Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2) will fix that up.

What nutrients are you using?? Some nutrients, like Botanicare's Liquid Karma tint or dye the roots a brownish color. Make sure your stones are pumping out enough air as well. What were your water temps??

I'm using GH's Maxi gro and Maxi bloom, and ajusting pH with GH's pH up/down. Last i've checked, the water temps were about 75 F.

There are alot of sediments in the bottom of the tub, from the clay pebbels, and its the same color my roots are turning into. Should i buy a cheap sediment filter for fish tanks or something?

Pontiac, get those fluoros down low. As close as you can get without touching pretty much. The plants are gonna stretch big time that way.

sometimes the root coloring comes from the nutes, make sure you flush out the res good and get all the runoff from the hydroton out of there. A few TBS of hydrogen peroxide daily wont hurt either.

GK, SC, i'll try H2O2 first and see what happens, i'm thinking its sediments from the clay rocks; its just way too early to call it root rot. I dont plan on changing the res atleast untill week 2 (day 14) or so. Do you guys have any quick tips for changing the res?

GK, i'll drop the fluoro lower asap.

Oh and what should i use for a ScrOG net?

Ditto on what GK said about the lights and res...The thing about any hydro system is you really need to keep on top of things...
Res Temp, TDS, pH, etc..before things go south..cause if they do..damage or death can occur real quick..
A monitor system is worth the initial investment IMHO..so that it continually monitors the solution Temp, TDS, pH..rather than pens..
Goin Ghetto..a pool thermometer, pen the TDS, ph Meter

Your into DIY, for ScrOG screen..make a frame to fit in your cab..put screws or nails in the frame spaced 1 1/2 inch or so..
Then just run twine back and forth around the screws until you've made a checker board..you can bind the twine at the intersections...
You could probably attach it to the cab walls with hooks and eyelets or double screws one above frame one below and slide it in..
Right on man...I like your ghetto switchable ballast..

Hey p2p, thanks for the advice and comments, but I dont have the $100 to spend for a res monitor. I'll definatly get one for my second grow though. I guess ghetto is the only way for me now. All i need is a tds meter, and maybe a hygrometer.

Thats an excellent idea for the scrog net; i'll set it up a week b4 flowering (or so). Thanks.

GJ, theres no greater satisfaction than building one yourself. :joint:

DAY 6 (Transplant)
94 :canabis: DAYS REMAINING
Ph: 6, Temp: 80 F, PPM: , Humidity:

>>>Theyre looking good!

>>>Transplant phase is almost over, which means the clones will no longer be fed 1/8 strength of grow and 1/8 strength of bloom formula. Day 8 will be the beggining of the veg cycle; the clones will only be fed with grow formula, at 1/4 strength.

>>>It has already been a week, and i can say that im impressed, especially with the root growth. Today is the last day of the transplant phase, which means they'll only be getting high N nutes from day 8.

I had a friend order it for me off of ebay. I think he won an auction or something, cus it only cost me 15 bucks. Its called HM Digital TDS3.

But if you want some sick ass deals on ph and tds meters, then check this place out: http://stores.ebay.com/Sunstone-Herbals

yeah great buy for $15 nice job. I would go w Pack and use twine too, or maybe better a plastic coated type of string as twine can be a bit abrasive sometimes. Ive heard using fishing line but I wouldnt use it due to fear of it cutting into the plants, or the plants growing and grafting into it.
I like the root porn :) you should see some real growth now.
Keep us updated!

DAY 9 (Vegetative DAY 2)
91 :canabis: DAYS REMAINING
Ph: 6, Temp: 80 F, PPM: , Humidity:

>>>Youre right GK, the plants are really starting to take off. They both look nothing like the pics from yesturday. Its like time sped up or something. I'll take more pics of them in a few days.

>>>I'm real anxious to get my tds meter, soon i will be able to feed my plants by ppm, instead of using a feeding chart. I think i'll get a pH meter too, cus i've been using the liquid indicator that came with my pH up/down kit, and it gets real annoying to use everyday.
