She looks real happy, Frank!

Always glad to see you swing through, Ax. This bx1 male is for you! First to show sex and stinkiest so far!

Hey Ax - nice to know you are following along seeing as LIOS is your baby... Thanks! You know I've been stalking her. ;)

Thanks Melty! Old Grandpa wouldn't be a thing if you hadn't taken the time to preserve the genetics!

Now an update:

Took the Old Grandpa to her final home yesterday.

Planted her in a fast draining marsh that is outside the flood zone...thick wet clay muck for about the first 12" and then hard compacted sand below that.

I dug down about 18 inches and then fluffed up the sand - filled the hole with about 6 gallons of fully amended organic soil that has been composting for the last 3 weeks or so...should be prime.

Noticed a lot of water seeping into the hole as I dug - but also noticed it sank through the sandy layer pretty quickly. I don't imagine I'll have any watering concerns - even with the 100+ degree temps we get pretty regularly...

In true guerrilla fashion - I won't be checking up on her until harvest time...if I can stand it. There really is no point in making the drive and then the awful hike out to this area - no need to beat in a direct path to my little spot. Forums didn't raise no fool grower.

Best I can figure - she has just started her flowering cycle based on the amount of pistils starting to show. She should still have plenty of time to spread her roots out enough to give me some big beautiful flowers. I'm guessing she'll take 10-11 wks - which puts her finish time sometime around the 3rd or 4th week of October.

I'm expecting her to finish up around 36-40" given she was about 16" at transplant. She has really nice thick stems that don't seem to have much flex to them...should be good for supporting any buds she forms. She put a bit of length at the top after being topped before going back to her alternating node pattern - but then stayed nice and tight and looks as if she is going to stack quite nicely. She has a REAL nice stink to her for really just being in veg still. It shouldn't be a concern at all where she is - but I am betting I'll be able to smell her upon approach come later in the fall.

REALLY can't wait to see how she performs. She has a great OG/Chem look to her - the type of leaves that you hope to see and find in this kind of cross. I have a feeling I'm going to be pleasantly surprised with how she yields...although my humble goal was to get a single zip. The main point of this was just to play around and grow something - not really to grow a tree and get massive yields. I'm just glad to have a couple plants in the dirt to keep my sanity intact...

I'm pretty excited to have escorted her safely into her final phase...until then... :tiphat:
