Feeding the Moms...

So, I've heard/read talk of feeding your mother plants a regimen of low-ish Nitrogen, higher-Phos, which supposedly promotes root development, tight internodes & less premature consumption of carbohydrates...all things that are ideal for cloning & long-term mothers.

Anyone pulled anything like that off before? Any organic recipes to promote that activity? Tips & tricks are a welcome addition here.

If this is true, I was thinking hitting the plants with a little Real Growers ReCharge & Mammoth P at transplant time & maybe a Bone Meal/Fish Bone Meal/High-Phos Guano compost tea just before topping.

Really depends on how long you like to keep any particular mum stock.

In coco, I keep a mum maybe a couple months before I take cuttings
and re grow another.

In soil one could do what you suggested in your first post to
keep a mum longer between cutting for a replacement.

Root pruning and other maintenance chores as required.
