It fills me with gladness to see so many others with similar views to my own on Xmas.
I wish we could all buy a private island and set up a community with us members living there with our outside views and ways.
What a glorious life that would be.

I hate Christmas too, although not for many of the same reasons stated here. I agree it's been taken over by corporate interests and people who are otherwise non-practicing Christians suddenly care about their faith. I mean I hate all that too.
What I hate about Christmas and Christmas season is all the stupid fuckin songs on the radio where I gotta flip thru 10 stations just to listen to something normal, all the fuckin traffic, all the overcrowded stores where I have to dodge, weave, and walk around slow ass motherfuckers just moseying around. Getting cut off left and right by people not looking where they're going, little kids running around me like fuckin gnats, yelling, screaming, crying. Having to stand in line a half hour when I just want some damn half and half. All I keep thinking is there's too many god damn people. Too many god damn people! Get the fuck out my way bitches!!!
Then you have family you need to buy presents for because you know they're getting you something. So I need to rack my brain to think of what this person doesn't have but could use, even though they have their own money so if they really wanted something they'd just get it their damn self. And I need to think of how much they usually spend on me and get something equivalent even though I have no money to spend. Buying presents gonna put me out a few hundred bucks I need for rent, and I'm gonna get some worthless shit I don't even want in return for it.

Still working on the rest... I send christmas cards to a couple relatives and say merry christmas to people. That's as far as it goes. Christmas dinner is at the only place open, the Chinese restaurant.

Gypsy, I feel for ya. That's when it really hurts. Hope the phone calls get through. My closest family members are in Belgium. Not my kids, but I'm familiar.

It can all start from a seed ... that's how i live
This will be my 5th Christmas without my kids and wife with me because of the legal attrition I have found myself under these past 5 years, 3 of those years I was locked up in Manila, then deported to the UK. So I have not been at home to watch their happy faces enjoy the custom of giving and receiving gifts since my daughter was 5 years old and my son was 4.The excitement of Christmas eve, and then the leisure of Christmas day just relaxing at home together, as a loving family, enjoying each others company, and the fruits of our labours just won't happen again this year.
I will have to go alone for the 2nd year running, without my family to visit my brothers and sisters families on the 30th December for a family gathering of my UK brothers and sisters and their kids in Winchester, and see all my nieces and nephews who have never met my kids or their aunt (my wife) enjoying the excitement of the festive season while my kids and wife are stuck in the Philippines again, until I can get a UK settlement visa sorted for her, hopefully around next March/April.
But Christmas itself looks lonely and cold for me, although I have been invited to Christmas by a board member here, it just won't be so special without my loved ones around me.
