Thanks PandyFackler! So far I'm really digging the SILs. Unexpensive, convenient, easy to find good offers, utmost flexibility... in two weeks we'll see the results...

So far if you look back at my previous Shed grow, how Beyond the Brain or Kalichakra performed, difference has been night and day from past HPS grow to this SIL one... not saying HPS are bad by any means, but truth is they aren't the best for space restricted grows. Getting 0,6 gpw pissed me off to no end...

I used the HML because I spent money on it in the past, and I had it already, would have gone with SILs in a snap.

Specially if you are going for a (space restricted) stealth cab, SILs really shine for that application.

I will take bud detail pictures, record weights, etc so that all of us can compare and decide.

Have to admit also that the Zamaldelica/COB combo is looking really nice... (pictures ahead)

Repuk, I mean this as a serious complement brother. You're a real Macgyver over there. You're creative and all your grow tek stuff is seriously exciting. Love all the DIY stuff you've got going on. Can't wait to see more of it my friend.

Hahah thanks Kaskadian! Funny that I was given that same nick back at the boarding school  glad you like my DIY!

I have some crazy Tek ideas, in fact I've been testing them (Raspberry Pi/mycodo) but I feel I have to polish my growing skills first... once I have a solid grasp of everything my idea is to program the Rpi to monitor and manage everything (RH control: misting/extraction, interaction, circulation, dripping, lights on/off/dim) both for growing and curing.

Thinking even on setting 9 plant "spots" on this big tent where each of them will have its own medium humidity sensors and specific drip line, to "babysit" each girl automatically on a custom basis... I love to have variety but that makes things more complicated, and this will approach solve that. RPi sensors are dirt cheap... thinking on how to achieve 9 independently activated drip lines from a single tank and pump in a unexpensive way.

Zamaldelica 8th week

I'm in love with this girl... so far she seems to love the COBs blasting her close...

Kaskadian, when using the "trick" of shooting flash on top of HPS light, light temp adjustment can go from 2200 to almost 2700K (used it for these pictures)

Dude... figures you'd use a Raspberry Pi for something productive! I have one that I loaded up with old nintendo/super nintendo games. If you get a tek going for something wild like that please let me know because I'll be first in line to give that a try!

Fantastic looking plants amigo! Everything is looking great. :tiphat:

Repuk, you’re blowing my mind. I was just thinking a couple of weeks ago that I should get a sense hat and use my RasPi as climate control when I build my cab. Now if I could only figure out how to turn this thing on??!!

Thanks for the advice on the lighting. I’ll be following you bro, soaking up the info, enthusiasm and the bud porn. Nice Zam my friend, looks really happy!

:thank you: gents! :)

The moment I start documenting the RPi/mycodo project I'll be opening a new thread and letting you know, you can count with that!

Guawi - 8th week

Guawi - 8th week

What a beauty. Love this plant, is a blast for training and achieve horizontal canopies.

As can be seen if you hit her hard (400W) she grows her nugs accordingly, this is the (partial) Guawi "skyline", if colas girth get a little bigger each will be close to a beer can girth.

Couldn't be happier with ACE's gear!! :huggg:

Smells delicious to the sweetest and sickest mango with the most superfruity guava on top I've ever smelled.

HPS vs LEDs
It's a no brainer: 400W should allow to grow some big nugs. LED grown ones are smaller, no discussion, but also tend to display more fully their pheno expression: in colors and without doubt, the most pungent and strongest aroma, at least that was my past experience. Let's see if it pays off gram per watt wise this time (looks like! :yummy:)

Big difference this time: previously on a 30"x30"x60", now on a 4'x4'x6,6'.

Second big difference: this grow actually had low temperatures, so being under the HPS meant higher temps... a pro. Previous one the problem was exactly the opposite, too high temps when finishing, to the point of having my first spider mites visit ever.

Thai-Chi - 8th week

Thai-Chi - 8th week

Close following Guawi in yield dept, (under same 400W HPS) filling tops from top to bottom:

Really complex and chameleonic terpenes.

Gone is the catpiss hint, and also the "cured sweated clothing", it became a danker scent now, couldn't put a word on what are those tones... Base is still a kind of mangoish but stronger leaning to citrics now.

Beautiful plants Repuk. I have a Thai Chi in Veg along with some Haze x Malawi testers. I'm very impressed with the Thai Chi, she went 1,3,7 bladed leaves, same for the A5 x Malawi. I've grown Tikal many times and loved it so the Guawi has been on my radar since it's release. Yours are just spectacular!

Lovely shots amigo! Love how uniform the Guawi colas are. Any chance you could make me a copy of that in 1920x1080? ;) Need to update my PC background.

(sad) update

(sad) update

I use the macro pictures to inspect the health, check tricomes, pests... the sensor of my camera is much potent than my sight, specially under funky lightning.

Nepal Jam (both girls) have lots of brown pistils and it's been like a week or more I don't notice neither new ones, nor bud swell

Inspecting the photos noticed a faint web over a Nep Jam #1 side shoot (check the hairs at the top, left side) :wallbash: Damn, spider mites!?!?!

Nep Jam #1, starting 9th week
picture.php

What I can do? haven't seen any webs on the rest of the plants... this is the smallest plant in the tent, will check if others are blocking air circulation over her, cannot explain this, she's about 20cm/8" from a oscilating fan which blows through the airy zamaldelica??? Could be too much ventilation??? Max temps 25C/77F... RH around 50%

Any remedies????

Nep Jam #2 starting 9th week
picture.php

Can't spot any webs, but latest two weeks she kind of stalled like this: brown hairs, no swell.

Any ideas are welcome!

Do you have a loupe? Check under the leaves for eggs, larvae and mites. If you find them you can use the following mix: 32oz. water, 2TBS refined neem, 1/2 cup of white sugar and 1/2 cup of Hydrogen peroxide 3%. Spray the whole plant down to the point the plant is saturated. Repeat every 3 days for 3 applications. That should get them under control. It's totally safe to do in flower and there are no poisons. The plants will look very shiny and happy the next day.

Update: checked temps and RH, max 30C/86F, RH min 40%, max 70%.

Raised extraction from 50% to 70%. Using passive intraction, will use active next, as summer is approaching. Seeing the 400W HPS having a rest soon.

Checked the plant and even considered culling it... is the only one with (faint and really hard to spot) webs on three of its tops, but it ¡s really small, have lost 60% of her fans, the rest are brittle and unless she quadruples her buds, yield is gonna be ridiculously low... and even quadruple of what's in there now will hardly reach what a single cola of the Guawi is gonna yield...

:thank you: Neiko! What's refined neem? Mine just specifies neem... advices 2ml per L, so usually apply 1ml/L.

Starting 9th week, supposing it recovers (has been the runt of the pack since the beggining) could it recover to produce a worthy yield by leaving it more time? I love the rest of the tent and feeling really uneasy thinking it may infect other plants...

Best PH Meter I've ever used

Best PH Meter I've ever used

I couldn't thank Commodore64 enough for sharing so much useful info, either written or densely packed on pictures, specially gear...

Saw this PH Meter on one of his pictures and ordered it, the Adwa PH14 I currently used as portable was getting on my nerves, slow as molasses, erratic, unpredictable, constant recalibration needed... each rez was a gamble, zero trust on it... and it's the best one I've ever purchased until these days! (and was similarly priced to the Voltcraft if not more expensive).

I've gone through about 15 PH pens in my life.

If you are in EU, and looking for a PH Meter, this one is a must. (or anywhere in the world if the shipping is worth)

Voltcraft is a German maker I already knew from DIY, as they make no-frills robust, reliable and precise products at affordable prices. Conrad usually carries them, though it's very possible finding cheaper online shops for those speaking German...

Superfast, stable, precise and cheap: 88€

Just be gentle with the BNC/cable, as it's a thin coax cable that also wires a temp probe inside the PH one, seems if you abuse it you could end up breaking the wires of the temp probe, screwing ATC (Automatic Temp Compensation).

I.e. do not wrap the cable with tight turns, bend it extremely, etc... this is a general advice for all kind of cables, as doing so may break the internal conductors. I just wipe the water from the cable after using it, then fold it with the same shapes it came in the box.

Thanks Repuk, helpful information. I have a few cheap electric ones. Capsules and small container seem more consistent. I need to upgrade. Peace

You can use raw or refined neem. If you use raw neem you need to add a wetting agent like dish soap, just a couple drops, refined you don't.
