This goal of this experiment to test a cheap low wattage LED light in a tiny space, use the least amt. of energy and space, and see what the results are. The light is a 30w full spectrum LED (based on my calculations it will only cost $40/yr to operate 18/hrs a day) I will run some micro cpu case fans off a small DC solar panel inside the the box utilizing the light from the LED

In the Grow diaries-> Micro Grows sub-forum there is a thread (couple of years old actually) by Blynx where he tested several led bulbs.

Many of us switched to led bulbs with great results, the rule of thumb we are using is 30 watts of led light per square feet.

Led bulbs have proved to be much better than CFL, approximately you get the same result with 25% of the wattage. Many already hit the 1 gram per watt easily, once the dialed in their system (light distance from canopy, temperatures, etc).
