Vancouver police are asking the public to help them find Andrew Koenig.

The 41-year-old actor is best known for his role as Richard "Boner" Stabone in the 1980s sitcom Growing Pains and is the son of Walter Koenig, who played Chekov on the original Star Trek.

As of Sunday, Andrew hadn't been seen since Valentine's Day.

Walter Koenig told People magazine his son visited friends in Toronto and then went to Vancouver, where he used to live.

He was due to return to his home in Venice, Calif., on Feb. 16 but never turned up.

Walter told People he received a note from his son in which "he sounded despondent."

"I think it's something that has been a part of his makeup for a long time. There's no single trauma. There's no episode. There's nothing of that nature," said Walter, who added that drugs were not an issue.

Sarah Silverman, Alyssa Milano, Kevin Smith, Dave Holmes and other celebrities have been tweeting and blogging about Andrew's disappearance.

"The Vancouver Police are involved and lots of people are looking. And say some prayers or think some positive thoughts," Holmes told E! Online.

Andrew Koenig, who has worked periodically as an actor since Growing Pains, is the camera operator on the podcast Never Not Funny.

Podcast writer and director Lance Miccio told celebrity website www.TMZ.com that Koenig had turned down a project Miccio discussed with him two weeks ago, saying he "wasn't going to work anymore."

People says Koenig discovered Vancouver while filming an episode of 21 Jump Street in the late 1980s, returning to live there in the early '90s, and would often take walks in the city's Stanley Park.

His father said he had recently finished shooting a trailer for a feature film that he wanted to direct. Andrew had also grown into an environmentalist and human rights activist.

He is white, 5-foot-5, 134 pounds, and has long, brown shoulder-length hair and brown eyes

Yup, I loved the show, it is where my intense hatred of Leonardo DiCaprio started

He is also good friends with Doug Benson..... meaning he is probably one of us

I really hope this turns out okay and he gets home safely, as a sibling of someone who committed suicide I understand what his parents are feeling, not knowing if this time he went and did it. Had no idea who his dad was..... strange
