Headbanger, Rockwool, Sealed Room

Started 36 head banger seeds and got 22 females. I grew the seeds out for a few weeks and cut clones. Here there is 64 plants, 2 of each phenotype and a few extra of some to make up the numbers.

I am going to grow these out and then choose a keeper, i have my fingers crossed for a sour beauty.

Room is sealed with supplemental Co2, dehumidifiers and a few fans.

The plants are growing in a 4x4 rockwool block, there are 16 plants per 600W light and 4 lights in total.

Each plant is fed via a 2gph drip emitter and fed between 1 and 3 times a day for 1 or 2 minutes depending on what stage they are at.

Here they are at 14 days of flowering.

The plants got a little big before they were flipped due to the room not being ready and the Headbanger has a good stretch.

They did get a little stretched but after a good prune and a few more weeks hopefully there will be a nice canopy of buds.

Looks nice and proper. Little more pruning then I like to do myself, my hey to each there own. No trellis? All though I see what looks like posts ready for attaching. And any particular reason for the 4" over the 6"? Or slabs under? Just curious. Just got done doing a ebb and flow rockwool run myself. First time running hydro in like 16 years or so. Turned out real well. PEACE

I found the 4" were plenty big enough with 1ft sq per plant. These are bigger than i would normally go as mentioned above but i have grown some large plants in a small 4" block. Cheaper less waste and easier to check the moisture by lifting.

A good tip is that i found after a good prune like these got because there is less foliage to transpire, I had to back off one watering or decrease the last watering so they did not sit wet through the dark cycle.

They actually have the netting on them, in the after pruned pics.

I try and get them to look more like these which finished at around 2ft tall but some strains will stretch out no matter what. So long as they get pruned hard i usually end up with a nice canopy of chunky tops with very little fluff.

Ah I see the trellis now. The thin plastic was invisible to me last time, until you said something. I have always liked to use a little larger rockwool volume and it allowed me to feed less. I would literally fill the tray with growcube rockwool and put my 4" cubes on top. It is ebb so a little different. Just created a mass of roots. Looks like you definitely got your game in check, so really not making any suggestions, just talking a lil shop.

The roots hardly grow out of the RW block, I put the grate down to help with stability and make sure the blocks never sit wet at all. I found this and never watering at night the best way to prevent rot with out using any chemicals.

I have tried it like this, where the roots get wetter and grow into the table, i found it more likely some plants would get either to wet or too dry at some point and some plants would then rot from over watering or damaged roots that then get water logged.

The easiest and most reliable thing i found was to use a coco mat under the roots. I only stopped as they are expensive and i try not to use anything organic for the risk of bugs. Iv used coco and promix for years and always at some point got thrips or fungus gnats. My aim is to use 0 pesticides and fungicides, something i have been managing for quite a while now.

The RW is without a doubt more finicky and takes more time to dial in strains as the deficiencies show up so fast. But once dialled in I find the product amazing and its the cheapest, cleanest to use and most efficient in terms of setting up and taking down the room.

The results were pretty much the same, possibly slightly faster growth with more water but the end results are the same as long as the plants dont get so dry for it to be detrimental.

So this doesnt turn into a root porn thread lol

Wish you could see how big these are, grown in a 4x4 RW block.

Unknown strain that i am puffing on right now, ill try and snap a dry shot, she is beautiful, dense and purple with amazing flavour.

Feeding them GH 3 part with fulvic and cal mag, no other additives will be used.

Do you know if the Headbanger are sensitive to nutrients like some of the kush. I have found that some of the Kushes will lock up and not give the big full buds they can if they are a little green in early flowering.

Plants are all about 32 days in i think.

I have not grown many seeds in my time as they always sucked but am bored of the cuts going around in my area. The 5 strains, 5 seeds of each i grew from greenhouse were all garbage, no hermis just garbage. I grew out some Scotts OG and 501st OG, Hermi's, Dutch passion a few seeds of a few strains, some hermi some garbage. Finally, good seeds, thanks a lot Karma.

These plants have a strong thick smell when you open the door to the room, its strong and pungent, a little sour when you smell the bud close. They have been fairly easy to grow and there looks to be some fairly good yielders in there. We will see in a few weeks how they turn out.

Anyway on with the show, i took some with and with out the flash, i tried not to take 2 of the same plant with the flash but it was confusing as hell.
