Don't sweat the technique.
And honestly. My fuck ups turn to gold so much the thought of fuckin up don't even bother me. So I keep it auto when I'm stepping through a portal. I know that sounds strange but, strange beats normal.

I like those cages. Are they mainly to keep deer away?

Can you do anything with the broccoli leaves or are they too tough?

Green Squall; it's 6in x 6in concrete reinforcement wire, been so long ago I believe it came in 8ft x 20 ft sheets. You could cover it with chicken wire and it might keep the deer out. depends on the animal and how well it is staked down. The neighbors had to resort to using hog fencing due to one determined buck but I've been lucky he hasn't decided to jump my fence.(yet)

makes a great poly tunnel but also a great kite when covered with plastic. Double down on the stakes if you go that route. I used it recently to shade the broccoli with cardboard during some unseasonably hot weather.

I've made round cages out of them for peas and tomatoes. Also you can see little fences that I grow peppers, edamame and melon. So many uses for the stuff.

If you like collards then you will enjoy broccoli leaves. good in soups in the fall is the way we like it

A pet duck, 4' will be tall enough as long as you clip the wings.
