Would ya just look at that.

Thanks Palindrome, Im 99% sure you are spot on.

Check out the garden; this is 5 days after the last picture taken today. Auto starting to form preflowers. It nice not having to inspect every inch of the plants to squish the thrips any more. The bugs are eating them.

Humidity was 76% and temp was 86 degrees when I walked in. I topped off each bucket before I left and in 6 days 75% water was used leaving the air stones just barely submerged. Lots of lady bugs still crawling around. The generator was filled by a house sitter. Even the slow plant has a good set of roots now. There is some damage due to excessive heat and humidity, but for just walking away for 6 days its very minimal and the roots all look healthy.

And that’s why I switched to dwc. I found also the airstone with 1” of water was fine lol. Try not watering coco for a week ha. Girls look great!

Just switched to hydro myself...all about ph just like soil. Keep the ph in a good range and good good food in the mix and your good. Not gling back to soil coco or any thing else. Also my room stays so much cleaner.

Switched to the Gavita DE HPS, but after 4 grows the bulb is showing its age. Its only putting out 120,000 lux while the digilux Metal Halide bulb is putting out 160,000 lux at 1 foot from the bulb under the 4 foot wide umbrella hood, vertically hung bulb. I was always under the impression MH bulbs only produce about 120,000, but the meter cant lie. Gonna trust the meter and bud out under MH unless I can find a newer HPS bulb that can compete. Had the Gavita shutting off as well due to a safety shutoff. I think it was getting moisture inside the balast since it gets really humid up high in the grow room. Sucks to go into the room in the morning to see temps in high 40s low 50s. The speckling on some of the leaves is from my dumb ass putting too much nutes in a couple pots 1000 to 1600ppm. Its been diluted since and plants are springing back fast. Have a friend growing the same genetics with a lot more light and his plants are definitly bigger and healthier than mine, but Im also 4 days behind him and using only 600 to 1150 watts for 6 plants vs his 2300 watts for 6 plants. He is using Advanced Nutrients ph perfect 3 part, with b52 at 500ppm. His roots are nuts... I might try adding some b52.

Struggle.

Struggle.

The struggle is real:

Right around 2 months now. Spent around $1,500 USD on generator fuel so far... 24/7

Got a lot riding on this one. B52 just came in. Hoping to see a root boom. Most days temp is 75 to 80f with 50+ % humidity. Will try to keep humidity down if and when colas get over an inch across to avoid bud rot. The Purple Haze and CBD cure femenized plants are getting pretty massive. Stocks almost an inch across. The big girls are drinking about half gallon a day now. Transpiration is so much that I had to turn a second fan on to move air over the top canopy to avoid PM. A handful of Lady bugs are still crawling/flying around. Have seen zero live thrips.

Plants take up area of a queen size mattress. In the greenhouse is 1500 gallons kept from freezing by 2000watt honda generator exhaust heat. The white shed is the mother in law turned grow room.

Sure hope I can make it through bud on these auto with good quality. The other 3 girls have all been topped and supercropped to create a bush instead of a tree. Im rotating them every few days and tucking big fans.

Peace... WatchGrassGrow

Wow where you live looks so different from here in Australia. That's some challenging conditions to grow in. I haven't been around much lately and missed this thread. Looks great for your first go. I'm the opposite and have always grown hydro and have issues when I try soil. It's what you're used to I guess. :tiphat:

Looks like Fairplay, at 10,000ft in the Rockies. Off-grid is definitely a challenge and your plants are looking great in spite of it. Shows your skills. :)

Keep being Awesome! :D

That's intense with a generator.

Out of curiosity have you ever done the math on charging marine batteries and running lights of them ? I was wondering how much charge time, gas to a battery bank & light time from the battery bank(if it was even possible ?

I havn't done the research, but I may try something like this with my wind generator this summer.

Thanks Douglas.Curtis, hydro8, Insomniac_AU,starke, Gazoo31

Roots got so massive on this Blue Cheese fem. I had to transfer from the 3.5 gallon to a 5 gallon bucket. Plants a little droopy after heavy defoliation topping and supercropping to form the short bush Im after. Did this treatment to all Fem plants .

I prefer taking clones from a soil mother over a hydro mom.
