N.H.'s Marijuana Decriminalization Law Now In Effect, But Do People Know Pot's Still Illegal
A new state law loosening the penalties on marijuana possession officially took effect this weekend. Police departments around the state are worried some residents may not fully understand what the change means.
<!--break-->
Under the new law, people found with three-fourths of an ounce of marijuana will now face a $100 fine rather than jail time. But if they refuse to identity themselves, they can still be arrested.
The head of the state’s Association of Police Chiefs, Andrew Shagoury, wants to make sure people understand that marijuana is still illegal in New Hampshire.
“There is a distinct difference between decriminalization and legalization. It is still illegal – it will be seized and you will be charged.”
New Hampshire is among 22 states that have eliminated jail time for possession of small amounts of marijuana.

But if they refuse to identity themselves, they can still be arrested.

This is a Constitutional violation in & of itself!
A person cannot be required to Identify themselves unless & until they are being arrested for a CRIME! Any other requirements to identify ones self are unconstitutional!

FUCK VERMONTS TOTALTARIAN STANCE!

They need to change their states motto to;
LIVE FEE OR DIE.

The Constitution is a compact upon the (federal) government.

People and municipal police are not a party to it.

Even so, the statement seems a little contradictory...what is it one can be arrested for? In one municipality I lived in, if you could not produce an ID, or show thirty dollars in cash, you could be picked up on a vagrancy charge, dreamt up in a statute from around the 1920s. I'm not sure there was any such thing as an ID during the Constitutional era.
