Ok I am an aficionado of hot peppers and have recently been growing several varieties.

scotch bonnets
bannana sport peppers
jalepenos

now I have acquired some south american varieties as well mainly the aji hot orange pepper from the andes as well as one red one that is very very hot!

Also growing herbs, potatoes, tom's, cuc's and others!

Hi LostTribe, here the peppers are of big importance, economic, gastronomic and cultural, one example can be the piquillo pepper, it is for roast, peel and cook with garlic.... The epicenter of piquillo is Lodosa.

padron peepers, this are exquisite. Only clean with water, fry, salt and eat. Are from Padron Galicia.

One good site for find seeds is semillas dot de I think this web is also in English, they are Germans in the Islas Canarias, they have thousands of strains in alphabetic order.

I use ladybugs to pollenate my chilis indoors, citrus too. I found them to produce a more bountiful harvest than hand pollenating and it saves me time. I'm not too sure how it would work outdoors though, maybe quite well if they were applied right on the plant.

By the way I'm growing Peach Habs and Aji Crystal right now.

That spicie foodie link was too much. After going there, I knew what my dinner was going to be. Too good.

what? in all I seen, most of the thread, I saw but a brief passing reference to trinidad and bhut but none about Carolina Reaper. I was trying to grow all these, but they looked yellowish and with brown spots, seems some disease struck again. i planted them outside hoping for the best as things ometimes revive in natural soil despite looking like near death before, many ordinary veggies suprised me that way but don't think this will be such an occastion. to all others best of luck, yeah I suck at spelling while rushing to make a point! or pint! ;)

Thanks @Betterhaff I don't know if monsanto have any relation.

This is the process of piquillo peppers, best if it is roasted over a wood fire, and peel with hands, never put it in water only clean the hands with water.

I'm curious dank.frank, how does that site have an affiliation with Monsanto? I know they bought Stark and Seminis seeds, are you confusing Seminis with Semillas?

C'mon, people!!!

What proof do you have of these allegations, if they were really from the company they would have already sent a android to your house with milk for blood to kill you by sticking a tv guide magazine down your throat.

Hey guys didnt know you were all still here I just finished my season planting.

I have some gigantic plants going right now. Thinking about doing a sizable spread next season.

5 different tomato bushes both determinant and indeterminate already grown out of my tomato cages not sure what to do now???
Aji Amarillo
Aji Panca
Aji Pinguita de mono
heirloom banana peppers
Green Peppers
Sweet Corn - this shit is going craze!!! its already 6 feet tall!!!
white onions
red onions
vidallaya onions
Okra
basil
rosemary
huacatay a peruvian herb

I had more but didnt have enough room. I bought a bunch of OMRI listed black gold peat, ewc and compost and amended with lime bone and blood meal and some myco ....Impressive growth in fact these things are kicking some much ass I am gonna steal some of the soil to plant a few select plants in this fall as I have been in hydro for the last 10 years and have recently been reminiscing about the different flavors and essence of the old herb.

Harvested my first heirloom tomatoes and some basil last week with a lot coming up soon!

As for seeds for veggies you have to go organic its not worth doing otherwise and please check your seed sources when possible just dry out some organic veggies and use the seed its cheaper that way and you know what you are getting too!

not sure what site u refer to... BUT how come watermelons are always sweet, and almost no seeds..

years ago when I grew corn, I'd boil the water, once boiling I'd run out cut the corn and cook it.. sometimes the corn was sweet, other times not so..

today I can go to the market buy corn, leave it in the fridge for days, and its still sweet as heck...why is that??? GMO???..

Or maybe they are hybrids selected by the qualities that the market demands? Most of the time they only go for looks and long shelf life tho.

This is first year ever we are having a decent pepper crop, not sure if its because its been so dang hot and not cooling off at night, or because we are doing mild hot peppers instead of bell sweet peppers. Everyone other time we have tried Bell peppers, however our night time temps outside normally get into the 50s all summer, this summer been more in the 60s at night.
