DAY 16 (Flowering DAY 01/56)
55 :canabis: DAYS REMAINING UNTIL HARVEST
Avg Height: 5.19", Photoperiod On/Off: 12hrs/12hrs,
Temp In/Out/Res: 87F/81F/72F, Humidity: 49%,
Ph: 5.40, TDS: 524ppm @ 0.5 conversion.

-----------------------------------

Well today is the big day when I made the switch to 12/12; right on schedule too! The avg height ended up to be a slightly shorter than what I expected for flowering day, but I'm glad it's under the prediction of 6 inches. It may indicate that the strain is not a "stretcher", but rather one that stays nice and compact; we'll know for sure once we're deep into flowering. :chin:

Right now, the plant's are looking just beautiful; I think NOW we're literally looking at a "sea of green" :nono: They look like they're just begging to go into flowering, and I doubt they'll suffer from any transitional stress. As SirSmokeAlot mentioned, "those girls are beggin for a flip showin their lady parts" :biglaugh:

Note this picture was taken at almost the EXACT angle as the picture
in the previous update (3 days ago). Go ahead and compare the two! :D

Now I'll explain in detail about how I transition from one growth phase to the next (warning, boredom ahead :bashhead:):

Obviously when transitioning to the next growth phase, it's common practice to perform a complete rinse and res change (aka flush) of the hydroponic system. I started by grabbing my trusty $10 "kerosene pump" (a SUPER USEFUL tool for filling/draining and rinsing hydroponic system; also great for rapidly feeding potted plants. :2cents:) and used it to completely drain the res. Next, I refilled the res with fresh water mixed with clearex and let the system run for an hour. To speed up the process, I placed the kerosene pump in the res and aimed the hose into the Ebb and Flow tray. This caused the salt deposits to just peel away from the hydroton and rockwool. By the end of the process, the TDS of the freshwater jumped from 63ppm to 301ppm! This indicates that I flushed the Ebb & Flow quite nicely and that I don't have to expect another salt buildup problem for a while. :jump:

picture.php

Quickly and safely draining the res without spills or the need to disconnect the res.

picture.php

Rinsing the ebb and flow with the help of a kerosene pump to remove salt deposits.

After I finished up with the flushing, I emptied out the res once more (again, not a problem thanks to the kerosene pump!). Next, I refilled the res with fresh water then added some MaxiBloom and Floralicious Bloom to a concentration of about 500ppm (over the comming weeks, I'll gradually raise the TDS to over 1000ppm). Finally, I topped off the brew with some Rare Earth and hydrogen peroxide to toughen them up for the phase transition. As expected, I didn't need to adjust the res's pH because the acidic GH nutes brought it down to around the ideal 5.5 pH.

Anyway, see you next update! thanks for watching and thanks for stopping by! :kitty:

I'm in for the haul on this one. I always like to see somebody get every watt out of a 150. Looks like you'll get it with this setup.

707Corridor - Yes, I definitely plan on making a full switch to CoCo as soon as my rockwool stock (which right now remains at about 12 blocks and a handful of plugs) finishes up. :drum: As because I'm quite a CoCo newbie, you'll be one of the first people I'll hit up with questions. Thanks for stopping by, and I'll be watching your grow!

Asil - Come back safely and in one piece, buddy. We'll be awaiting your triumphant return. :bis:

DAY 20 (Flowering DAY 05/56)
51 :canabis: DAYS REMAINING UNTIL HARVEST
Avg Height: 7.48", Photoperiod On/Off: 12hrs/12hrs,
Temp In/Out/Res: 83F/80F/77F, Humidity: 41%,
Ph: 5.16, TDS: 623ppm @ 0.5 conversion.

-----------------------------------

Well today I was surprised to see that the average height has sky-rocketed to 7.48" from 5.19" 4 days ago. They sure are stretching their asses off! They're also drinking their asses off too! I find myself refilling the res more and more often.

I started their day with a quick and well deserved trim down. :dueling: I trimmed some of their larger fan leaves so that the lower canopy can get some light. The trim smelled REALLY dank for post-vegetative leaves, so I decided to jar them up for the hookah later down the road. :canabis: This should give me a small preview of what's to come. :joint:

picture.php

Some leave trimmings dank enough for smoking

As you can see they still show absolutely no signs of stress or sickness. :noway: I have yet to see them droop or even burn at the leaf tips!

picture.php

Foliage has been slightly trimmed down

If you look closely at the bottom of the second picture, you'll see two newly installed magnetic door latches. I only installed them to completely eliminate the minuscule light leak from the doors staying just barely open. However, believe it or not, the magnetic latches forcing the doors to completely shut created a SERIOUS improvement to the air-flow within the cab that reduced the average T-diff (difference between internal and external temperatures) by HALF! In other words, by installing these magnetic latches I unintentionally reduced the temps in my cab! What luck! :jump:

good looks with those latches. i used friggen bunggy cords to the back of my cab to the doors. that kept them sucked in hard core but looks bad lol. yes i have a lil tray bout similar size of yours. i will show ya.... did some trimmin huh. lookin full in there gonna have more trimmin to do soon i see. lookin healthy as can be great job. i see you mentioned coco up above. i got a few runs with it now. what a remarkable medium. and renewable resource(think green). less to figget with and can still go hydro status with it. well the method you are runnin now dont get much simpler, but the rockwool i personally dislike. coco run to waste is so easy and cheap i cant see why i would go any other route for a while to come. my current run is in soil, as i could not afford coco at the time, but that is only reason why and it still pisses me off, but soil means less watering so i can have it easy this run and i will watch my yeild pay for it lol. i do great in soil(old trusty hehe) but love those coco yeilds

Asil - Haha nice man :biglaugh: Welcome back! :smoker:

What ever hydro method you end up choosing next, I'm sure you'll do it right. Thanks for stopping by

SirSmokAlot - Bungee cords don't sound bad Sir, :biglaugh: I imagine they'll last longer than magnetic latches since they tend to lose strength over time.

Mmm, can't wait to see that ebb & flow in action bro; it'll be one hell of a gro sho :lurk:

Yea you're right... I definitely trimmed them like a wuss this update, gonna have to be more aggressive on the next trim. :chin:

Ahh yes, got confirmation from the man himself! :D Coco seems like the buzz these days and I'm happy to hear that you're quite fond of it as well. Rockwool is cheap, but that's as good as it gets for that medium. Coco coir seems to have positive effects for the growroom, the environment, and even the poor regions from where it's sourced. Definitely making the jump ASAP. :jump:

I believe the cubes are held in shape with natural rubber.
