This is a flower called Monkey Orchid.
This remarkable orchid bears more than a passing resemblance to a monkey's face. It is mostly found in Ecuador. Up in the cloud mountains the monkey orchid can flower at any time. It is not season specific. Its' scent resembles that of a ripe orange.

Has anyone tried these.Id like to get some.
bet you could scare the kids with em hahah

yeah but obviously not if you simulate its exact requirements,, it will just need higher humidity than you can give it outside..

Here are some of mine

The Vanda. Has flowered numerous times. I will get pics for you next time.

Here is a pic of the intraweb of what they look like.

My Bourbon Vanilla vines from Reunion Islands. Four of them growing happily. Maybe they might flower in the next couple of years....lol

There are more which I will get pics of and update later on.

Holy cow, lots of chid growers at IC.

I've been out of the weed growing game for a little while once I got bit by the orchid bug. The bug bit hard because I had over 100 in less than 2 years. Species are my main interest. I have about 150 of them now and only one is a hybrid. Vandaceous orchids are what I like to focus on, but Paphs and Dends are cool too. Pretty much anything from Vietnam is what I try to get my hands on, but I do get sidetracked.

FYI, that "monkey orchid" is actually Dracula simia.

^The first pic is a Phalaenopsis or maybe Doritaenopsis. The other one is a Cymbidium.
