my secret garden

we are very lucky to have a small garden in the middle of the city and i would love to share my green oasis with you as things progress over the summer months.
you might see some pretty flowers, some fruit trees, various herbs:biggrin:, an orange cat named littles and if your are lucky, even some 'root porn'.
we are overlooked on all sides by about 20 to 30 different people so we have to keep our voices down when we talk about growing,
and joints are smoked in the smoke room and rarely outside,
but other than that you can kick back, relax, and put your feet up.
there is lots of wine i the cellar so just say the word if you get thirsty.

welcome to my secret garden.....

early April mini dafadils (sp?)

middle to end April tulips

and lots of empty clay pots that need some cleaning up

the middle of May brought on an explosion of fragrant red climbing roses

we just flipped the calender to June but they are still going strong with a small scattering of beautiful red rose petals on the ground below.

now some of you with a keen eye will have spotted the exhaust in the window and others, maybe the barbed wire on the fence.
we will get to that sweeties....all in good time.

my chill out lounge chair that i found at a thrift store for 30 bucks, sits under a plum tree

the bird houses that the dude started making with leftover wood

this whole corner had a huge grandmother pear tree that came down one winter during a big snow storm.
the weight of the melting snow pulled the roots right out of the ground.
we sawed it up into manageable bits and used the big branches for a chill out bench and the smaller branches as boarders.

fine wine rarely comes by the gallon but i will pour you a glass....white, red, or bubbly.

i guess you are a beer drinker.
in that case you have to bring your own.

Wow. That's a sweet little area city oasis you have there. It would make it almost bearable to live in the city for me. Do the neighbors have similar areas or are you the only one?

the neighbours have some small terrace or gardens but the only one who uses theirs is a family next door with 2 small children.
they are always outside and really loud.

they are on the side of the house with the paving stones and clay pots, but the backyard green space is alittle more private because we have let some trees grow to block the view.

see- 'complaints' thread about the tall trees needing to be cut down at neighbours request.
