Rainbow

Rainbow

At the time the “Red Bud” was the best…after that we were getting stuff we called “Christmas Tree”, buds were multicolored red, green, and gold. Wasn’t too shabby either but not as good as the red.

We tried to keep things back but it was selling so fast and we figured it was going to be around for a while. Big mistake, it dried up pretty quick.

Ah yes the piney Christmas tree bud and Colombian rainbow. Gold's, reds, orange and greens, all on bud.
The good days of my youth.

The late 70s and all the 80s were the best times for me. The music the cars the women and the other drugs made this a very special time for me. Rock concerts, camping party’s and road trips are some of my best memories. Good Colombian was always a part of it, that smell meant a good time was being had. The best sex always followed fine Colombian and even now the smell of it is arousing to me. I have a great life now and still have the good Colombian but those were the bests days.

2006 was my best year so far growing. I grew out 50+ strains and made 10 crosses using native Colombian and seed from all over the world. Really great year for me.

Nice Thread, nice colombians here, only smoked CBG mango Biche and some Punto Rojo from Peru, and some similar from Paraguay and Bolivia. Really nice weed that have a super taste (spyci, encience, tropical fruit) and nice high's. Would love to smoke some gold and all the colombian old landraces, so rare in this days but never extinct.

Greetings and keep growing

Ah yes the good old Lumbo, gold and the red bud was out of this world, would love to get a hold of some redbud. We used to get it back in the late 70's early 80's. I remember standing a round with 5 or 6 friends comparing grass and would lite up a joint of some good red and by the time the joint got back to the first person everyone's lungs were blown. You about needed an oxygen supplied resperator just so you could hit it again. I remember the gold was also tasty and was scarce my friends would roll what we called(lollie pop sticks) because that's all you needed was a tiny joint of that shit,ah yes the good old Lumbo days.

Cauche & Corinto Monster

Cauche (Wacky Weed, Colombian Black, Colombian Chocolate, etc, etc, etc. Don't let her looks fool you, this stuff can be extremely potent.

Because of its looks and seeds Colombian black can be bought very cheap. Quality really varies and it must be tested to know its true value.

This is some fresh Corinto Monster that I obtained in a local farmers market. It was rare because it was 100% seedless and super strong trippy high. Had a very pleasant smell when burned, my wife thought I was burning incense. ($2.50 1/2lb.) 2005.

$2.50 1/2 lb...what a rip. How do things compare to the stuff from the '70's?

Hello Betterhaff, I would say the modern Colombian “reggs” are identical to mid to mersh Colombian of the 70s. Same unmistakable “Lumbo” smell and taste with that stunning type effect. Some samples I’ve come across had expansive smoke and a very pleasant after taste. But right now it’s easy to get 70s like bud here, it’s what was once known as commercial but its here. The primo Colombians are here as well but incredibly difficult to obtain. The Crippy is not like traditional Colombian and can be compared to really good outdoor North American. When I first came to visit Colombia (Cartagena) in 02 and tasted my first golden joint in 22 years I knew I had to come back. This stuff is good for the soul.

Imports

Imports

05-07 I also grew many imported seeds. Some I bought but most were gifted to me by the best people in the world. I have never been so thankful!

attachment.php

Nirvana Afghani my first import. Here in Colombia they grow into little pungent one bud (small) plants.
More Afghani from Nirvana, Tiny but tasty, I had to grow a bunch of them to get enough to smoke (cure).

This guy got to know all my Colombian females. Speed Queen produced some of the best smoke I've had but grown outside here their very small plants. But crossed with a lanky Colombian....wow!

Nirvana NL/Haze, great plant. She grew to a respectable height and produced outstanding bud. However at the end she threw off a few male flowers.

White Label White Skunk really nice and she loved the Colombian sunshine.

hey Red Rider!

I´ve always liked your posts... i´m a big fan of colombian strains as well, I used to have a friend living in colombia, he used to hook me up with all sorts of native cannabis, I eaven did a small selection of my own SMCG .... found a super awsome cofee smelling sedative one.... 18 weeks for the ladie to finish her job!

for those indica plants what you could do to get a decent yeald, is veg them indoor under a 250W HID .... and place them outside after the plants are + or - a meter tall ...... you´ll get some lush plants.... lots of friends do this here in Brazil, because where they live, plants always go straight to flower mode outdoors.... so they veg indoor and flower outdoors!

keep safe !

Its funny why I couldn't bring the Indica in at night for a longer veg. My wife decided to let me grow the plants but only outside. However some strains were able to get big and produced a good bit.

hahahaha you got an angry wife as well??... my wife is also... full of rules... hahaha but in the end we always aceave an agreement ....

well if the problem is indoor growing... you could always complement the light cycle with fluors to stop your indicas from flowering till they reach the size you want...... but you know what?.. I should stop giving you advice, by the look of your happy plants, you obviously know what you are doing!

Saludos!

Hi Red Rider,

I'm glad to come across your posts again. Hope all has been well with you.

I have been very fortunate to find myself in possession of some seeds that are claimed to be Colombian Gold x C99. The seeds are unusual. Can you tell me anything about the Colombian Gold seeds. I'd hope to hear something that might match what I have.

Same goes for Punto Rojo. I have about 5 of those seeds. They look more like seeds I was able to find in some Thai Sticks from long ago. These seeds are most unusual also.

I'm not describing the seeds I have yet, because I'd like to hear what you have to say about the seeds from these strains.

Thanks in advance,

ThaiBliss

hey TB.... i´ve selected a keeper out of a couple hundred SMCG seeds.... from my experience, seeds were longer then normal, more oval shaped than big ass round indica seeds, no tiger stripes at all, but a light shade of brown.......from the growing experience I found that about 50 % of the plants showed intersex traits, and I eliminated all these inidividuals, despite positive and appealing characteristics some of them expressed.... that left me with about 100 plants that were real fems, and boys.... the boys got excluded as well ..... I cloned the 25 best looking SMCG girls and reveged.....

then I flowered the 25 at the same time, and I found basically 3 fenos... a super long flowering girl, that would go + 20 weeks of flower, wich for me at the time was no problem... but since I was selecting a single fem... I ditched the super long flowering feno..... the somke was floral, medium resin, and nice potency...... the secon feno, had a sweet candylike smell but potency was on the lower side, it took 14 weeks bloom, wich is super fast for the line I selected... and then, ther is the 3rd feno, wich I found only 3 girls expressing it... wich was a 18 weeker plant, that showed typical christmas tree shape, produced flowers that when alive were rancid...quite repulsive actually to stuff your nose in and sniff.... but after dry and cured, when you smoke a spliff, this insane cofee smell takes over ... and the smell is soo strong.... if you smoke it in a room, and then leave.... and come back hours latter... you know damn sure some fine SMCG was smoked there...
its the kind of herb you light up in concerts and people start searching for it.... it really is some amazing herb! ATM, i´m still selecting my mother plants..... and this specific cut is being grown by close friends ... I will try to take a weekend off and make a road trip to rescue this clone and share it with you guys! its the only true selecting job I´ve ever done, and i´m quite proud of it.....
I´ve got some Paragauyan seeds to select as well... about 500 grams of seed, I vave no idea how many there are.... but they are straight from Pedro Juan Cabalero, they are suposed to be Limón ... i´l start poppin in September.....will try to find a gem among these...
