this is a classic straw man against sanders. nothing is free. paying for certain services such as health care with taxpayer money is not only more economically sound, meaning it costs less across the board for employers and employees, it's also just as effective, if not more effective because it would cover every man woman and child, for LESS than what we pay now.
California has the 11th largest economy in the world. They are not a socialist economy. They have many problems but if you think the elected democrats of california are socialists then i don't know what to tell you other than they are not even close. most of the so called elected liberals don't even occupy the left on a political scale.
even though working class America's best candidate is Bernie? have you ever even read his platform for Presidency?
-jobs & infrastructure program
-expanding medicare to cover all americans
-expanding social security
-cutting military and ending the wars
-bringing back glass steagall and wall street banking regulations
-taxing wall street speculators to make public colleges tuition free
-breaking up the large too big to fail banks
-cannabis legalization
-repealing citizens united and the system of legalized bribery in govt
-making sure corporations who pay zero in taxes start paying them
-fixing the free trade deals
i guarantee most americans can get behind that and none of it is any more "socialist" than the US already is.
he's filmed town hall style discussions in areas that voted overwhelmingly Trump and by the end of it he had many people agreeing with him. the problem is reaching into people's partisan bubbles and actually making points that land with them. when you do, they usually agree with bernie.

Back during the Clinton impeachment hearings, a few of the old-time news anchors were interviewed, one of which was Walter Cronkite. He said many presidents (and others) had affairs but none of the media mentioned anything about it because they considered such things personal between the men and their wives. They figured their sexual indiscretions were none of anyone's business and had nothing to do with running the country. At least one other anchorman said something similar.
I'm not defending Trump. I loathe him. But I don't care if he boffed some whore. I do care that he's further destroying our country's respectability... what little there is remaining of it.

Please tell us all what ‘services’ I’ve ever drawn upon. I support myself, my family and have helped others out of pocket along the way. I don’t mind others needing a hand when down... but I do resent fully capable people getting handouts from the government under the premises of entitlement. Nice try tho...

Bernie's running again in 2020 (trump's scared), he has a son running for a seat in the New Hampshire congress, and his daughter is running for Mayor of Burlington. It's a calculated political smear against the Sanders name.

I agree that the corruption isn't controlled. That's a huge failure and I resent lazy worthless users too. However, I do believe those who can't support themselves deserve help, especially if they paid into the system their entire lives.
I'm not sure what I previously wrote would indicate I think otherwise. I just don't agree that Trump is the answer to our problems. I also disagree that having social services is worse than the one percent fleecing us all.
Sanders' mistake was/is calling himself a 'Democratic Socialist'. What most folks refuse to see/accept is that the USA is already greatly Socialistic... including so-called Conservative Republicans.
