Things they didn't tell will happen when you pass 60...

but I am regularly getting blood drawn and tested to make sure that things are where they are supposed to be.

and where is it supposed to be? Do you now have the average testosterone levels of a 22 year old in a 65 year old body or do you have the average testosterone levels for a man your age?..let me guess, it's the former lol. What are your testosterone levels? in the 200's or 800's?

How do you take your testo? Needle, cream or pills? How often do you take the hormone? How much do you take? This is interesting information.

Not that I am an expert but anything above 300 and below 1000 is considered to be normal. For me I tested at 310 and was considered low and I showed symptoms of low testosterone. 4 of my family members have been through this, 2 women ages 35 and 62, and my son in law and I. The two girls are getting a different regimen and since their age differences, pre menopause/ post menopause. My wife gets pellets inserted under the skin on her butt, I get shots twice weekly. My wife is a nurse and can give injections.

After my first follow up my T levels shot up over 1000, which is quite common when starting the program. My dosage has been decreased and my last follow up was slightly below 1000. More adjustments are coming, I have no doubt. I also take an estrogen blocker, which many men should also look into if your levels are high.

Look, except for the wisdom they impart, the world does not need old people and nature does not bother trying to spend resources on a wasted project. As you get old it's on you to make the decisions that will carry you forward. I carve the chariot on the carousel.

What an excellent reply ronbo51, thank you for your comments.

What is it like to have levels of 1000 T running through your (I presume 65+ year old) veins? Do you ever feel aggressive or "competitive"? or do you just have a slight extra spring to your step? Do you feel stronger or more muscle-y? Was the change you felt after the initial treatment more physical or psychological? Did you use Viagra before the T jabs? Do you need Viagra now?

If getting a jab twice per week makes old guys feel young and strong again then I wonder why doesn't everyone over 60 do it? What does it cost you each month? I presume your med insurance doesn't cover it.

Testosterone therapy: Potential benefits and risks as you age
Considering testosterone therapy to help you feel younger and more vigorous as you age? Know the risks before you make your decision.

By Mayo Clinic Staff
The promise of testosterone therapy may seem enticing, but there are a lot of misconceptions about what the treatment can and can't do for you. As you get older, testosterone therapy may sound like the ultimate anti-aging formula.

Yet the health benefits of testosterone therapy for age-related decline in testosterone aren't as clear as they may seem. Find out what's known — and not known — about testosterone therapy for normal aging.

What is testosterone?
The influence of testosterone in men
The influence of testosterone in men

Testosterone is a hormone produced primarily in the testicles. Testosterone helps maintain men's:

Bone density
Fat distribution
Muscle strength and mass
Facial and body hair
Red blood cell production
Sex drive
Sperm production
What happens to testosterone levels with age?
Testosterone levels generally peak during adolescence and early adulthood. As you get older, your testosterone level gradually declines — typically about 1 percent a year after age 30 or 40. It is important to determine in older men if a low testosterone level is simply due to the decline of normal aging or if it is due to a disease (hypogonadism).

Hypogonadism is a disease in which the body is unable to produce normal amounts of testosterone due to a problem with the testicles or with the pituitary gland that controls the testicles. Testosterone replacement therapy can improve the signs and symptoms of low testosterone in these men. Doctors may prescribe testosterone as injections, pellets, patches or gels.

Does a naturally declining testosterone level cause the signs and symptoms of aging?
Not necessarily. Men can experience many signs and symptoms as they age. Some may occur as a result of lower testosterone levels and can include:

Changes in sexual function. This may include reduced sexual desire, fewer spontaneous erections — such as during sleep — and infertility.
Changes in sleep patterns. Sometimes low testosterone causes insomnia or other sleep disturbances.
Physical changes. Various physical changes are possible, including increased body fat, reduced muscle bulk and strength, and decreased bone density. Swollen or tender breasts (gynecomastia) and body hair loss are possible. You may have less energy than you used to.
Emotional changes. Low testosterone may contribute to a decrease in motivation or self-confidence. You may feel sad or depressed, or have trouble concentrating or remembering things.
Some of these signs and symptoms can be caused by various underlying factors, including medication side effects, obstructive sleep apnea, thyroid problems, diabetes and depression. It's also possible that these conditions may be the cause of low testosterone levels, and treatment of these problems may cause testosterone levels to rise. A blood test is the only way to diagnose a low testosterone level.

Can testosterone therapy promote youth and vitality?
Testosterone therapy can help reverse the effects of hypogonadism, but it's unclear whether testosterone therapy would have any benefit for older men who are otherwise healthy.

Although some men believe that taking testosterone medications may help them feel younger and more vigorous as they age, few rigorous studies have examined testosterone therapy in men who have healthy testosterone levels. And some small studies have revealed mixed results. For example, in one study healthy men who took testosterone medications increased muscle mass but didn't gain strength.

What are the risks of testosterone therapy for normal aging?
Testosterone therapy has various risks. For example, testosterone therapy may:

Contribute to sleep apnea — a potentially serious sleep disorder in which breathing repeatedly stops and starts
Cause acne or other skin reactions
Stimulate noncancerous growth of the prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia) and growth of existing prostate cancer
Enlarge breasts
Limit sperm production or cause testicle shrinkage
Increase the risk of a blood clot forming in a deep vein (deep vein thrombosis), which could break loose, travel through your bloodstream and lodge in your lungs, blocking blood flow (pulmonary embolism)
In addition, testosterone therapy may impact your risk of heart disease. Research has had conflicting results, so the exact risk isn't clear yet.

Should you talk to your doctor about testosterone therapy?
If you wonder whether testosterone therapy might be right for you, talk with your doctor about the risks and benefits. Your doctor will likely measure your testosterone levels at least twice before discussing whether testosterone therapy is an option for you.

A medical condition that leads to an unusual decline in testosterone may be a reason to take supplemental testosterone. However, treating normal aging with testosterone therapy is not currently advisable.

Your doctor will also likely suggest natural ways to boost testosterone, such as losing weight and increasing muscle mass through resistance exercise.

I use to ride my bike, walk all over my property, now my bike is in the living room, I walk out and get in the golf cart. My feet decided to go numb and burn like a mofo. Feels like they are balloons walking on them. Doc's have no idea what caused it and have nothing that really helps, let alone a cure for it. It's starting to go into my hands as well. Oh and the hair you lose it where you want it and it pops out where you don't want it. That the plant that I have made my living at either growing, making concentrate, or moving around would come to an abrupt end. I have reading glasses everywhere as well. A good day is one that you wake uo...

Did they check you for diabetes? Sounds like neuropathy. I have it. Had my prostate removed Aug 24th. Still can not get a hard on and I am still leaking pee. Have to wear a diaper.

Can't trust a fart anymore?

Yep. Happened to me. Yikes!
Colonoscopy this afternoon after a wrenching Gatorade/Miralax cocktail. Noticed "coffee" wasn't on the Clear Liquids list. Too bad! Drank coffee (black) like I always do.

Will be glad when this is over...never again. Two benign polyps 10 yrs ago.

Just keep going. It's important.

For anyone putting it off:
Polyps will 100% turn to cancer. Get rid of the fuckers. You'll be off the bed in 15 minutes and you'll get awesome drugs while you're at it. Not that you really need them. I never get them because I can leave minutes after they're done. If you take the drugs they'll keep you for 45-60 minutes while you come down.

Polyps are often non-cancerous growths, but some can develop into cancer. ... Usually these polyps do not carry a risk of developing into cancer. However, large hyperplastic polyps, especially on the right side of the colon, are of concern and should be completely removed. Adenomas or adenomatous polyps. WEB MD

Nah, general anesthesia due to my chronic conditions. Thanks for good vibes.

What the fuck is up with all the 'spots' and crap that are appearing all over my skin?

Some are just standard 'age spots'. Some are raised like tag moles. Some are red, some are black, some are large and some are small.

Fucking old age blows camel wongs.

The good news is that the chest pains from the anxiety attacks from owning my own business with 50 employees during my middle age have long ago stopped.

Never had a problem shitting in those days.

Like the man said, "Life, it seems, is not without it's own sense of irony."
