Gov't wants Google search records

The U.S. Gov't, under the guise of the child internet porn protection act, wants Google's search records for an undertimined period of time, all I.P. Adress' and what they were searching for and looking at, this is rediculous. Google says it won't give in to the supeana but there is a disclaimer in the google privacy statement that says they will abide by all legal requests. I can't believe that this administration has no regard for the privacy of its citizens and is tearing away at the very fabric of our constitution, this country is supposed to be all about freedom and we see more and more of that freedom taken away everyday, You know, the right wing loves to say that anyone that critizes' the Gov't "Hates America" but I think its the right wing that really hates america because they want to destroy all the freedoms of privacy in this country, they can't stand not knowing or controlling what people read, watch, listen and who they do those things with, its scary and unbelivable that more people aren't outraged by this behavior, they're capitalizing on people's complacency. Wake up!!!

Listening to 10-12-68, great Dark Star...that aside, yes that IS ridiculous, true spying on people. Think Google is concerned about how this would affect them financially?

If the goverment wants records of kiddie porn searches, Good. I think it should be handed over on a Silver Platter. Fucking scum like that deserves to be placed behind bars, there are situations when privacy must be invaded, especially to protect children.

Now if this is one of those Blanket requests asking for all search records for the purpose of only using certain info, that is unacceptable.


The only people who should be concerned is Kiddie porn collectors and child molesters...ask yourself is this you? If not why waste your time thinking about it........

Google's fighting it i think.....their motto is "do no harm" and i have been thinking
about all the implications of this motto as a general philosophy.....

Personally i wish there wasn't so much child pornography on the internet.....but i guess if there weren't a demand for these kinds of pictures there wouldn't be so much
supply of them....

Is it better to preserve our Informational Security or is it better to give law enforcement every possible lead that would help them to track down Child Pornographers and people addicted to kiddie porn.....

Anybody remember how Pete Townsend of "The Who" got caught up in a UK Internet Child Pornography Investigation? What was that story again?

They'd do better doing the searches themselves and taking the owners of the sites down rather than looking at what people search for in case one of them is a pedo. But then it's not really about pedos is it? Just one more step down the road.

GMT, you are DEAD ON I believe.
For them to do their own searches would be TOO easy...
Not enough residual information in doing it theirselves. THEY want more.

If it was about the kids, they would fund working programs for the kids.
Always follow the money and you'll get to the truth eventually.
Kids are the excuse to gain support for what they intend to do.

Freedom is gone in the US. Throw the word terrorist in there and its OK to invade. Seems like Google would purge their search request on a regular basis so they could say Sorry, that info is gone but we will gladly work with you on future kid porn searches rather than handing over an entire log of all searches. It also seems it would be easier to search out those producing the kid porn rather than go for the perves looking at it. You've accomplished nothing by just getting rid of those looking when you don't get rid of those producing it.
Has anyone seen the Dateline(or one of those news shows) sting operations where they pose (not nude) kids in chat rooms and tell these sick fu*ks that mom and dad will be gone between such and such a time, then when the priest and doctors and lawyers get there, they'll pop out from behind a door with a camera and ask them why they're there as they sit there with there britches around there knees. It's friggin awesome. Some states are assisting with deputies outside just waiting to arrest them. Woo Hoo. I catch some fuck messing with my son or someone elses kid, that fuck is going down, end of story. No excuses and no acceptance for those that prey on children, yours or mine. Grab my little boys nuts and see if you have a hand left, tell them at the ER you had it where it didn't belong.

Okay, first off the Cild Internet Porn Protection Act is about keeping children from seeing porn on the internet, which we can all agree they shouldn't be looking at, a big step in that protection would be parental supervision while their children are online and the use of filters when the parent can't supervise. The second thing I'm sure we can all agree about is that there is no more of a haneous crime and despicable person then the pediphile, these predators need to be hunted down and incarcerated for life because there is no rehabilitating these sick bastards. I'm sure the Gov't knows where the severs are that host this vile content of child porn, they should just shut them down when and where ever they pop up. What the Gov't is trying to do here is use the excuse of protecting kids from watching porn on the internet to look into all of our lives and spy on our activities, this is unacceptable and violates our fundemental right to privacy.

i cannot help but agree that pedophiles are sick, and the whole child pornography thing is disgusting.. but... whats to keep the government from using the information they get from search engines for other things.. drug busts.. etc etc... whos to say they wont look for other searches?

Child porn is horrible but the govt putting their hands down the private pants of american companies is a hell of a lot worse. I also think its wrong to do because this doesnt just effect people in the US. Google is globally used and its not like the US govt is going to only look at US based IP addresses.

remember the first thing those assholes use when talking about mj law reform is, we have to keep it out of the hands of the children! who will think of the children!! they are *ALREADY* spying on us, you think the Acronyms wont be poring over that data for EVERYTHING they can find? and anohter thing, google wont flush those records because they are valuable business assets. thats what they are all about, using that data to feed you ads when you are otherwise searching...

It's a powerful statement about the universally held position on child porn/pedophilia. Virtually all people recognize that sexual predators can almost NEVER be fully rehabilitated. We read too many cases of serial rapists out on parole who rape and murder before their bunk even cools off. Most states have provisions allowing for the indefinite detention of sexual predators after their term is served if they're determined to be a continued danger to the public. All of them are, and that's fine by me.

The worst problem there is the universal title of "sex offender". That covers everything from consensual sex between minors to serial rapists of children. I say ditch that bullshit title and lable them with their exact nature of the charges. If the shitbag is a sodomizer of little girls then lable him that way.
