as your surprise.
It is a street food available in Vietnam and Philippines and
is an ethnic delicacy. It is fertilized duck egg, incubated or allowed to grow
in vitro for a few weeks. This is done in the warmth of the sunlight,
and the egg is held up against the light to check if it ready to be served.

The right way to ‘enjoy’ it is to slurp it from the shell with a pinch of salt
and squirts of lemon juice.
:( that's yucky :(

I do t mean to be rude about someone else's munchies but that is aweful I wish I never saw that

Balut stall by Ilpo's Sojourn in Eagle Rock, California

All the more reason for giving it a go

I fell for it some years back

a friend ordered it for me at brekky

as a laugh ///not!

I stormed of to the kitchen to insult the cook...mildly

I was just as quickly ordered out and it was

explained to me how it goes

so pissed I was then determined to 'give it a go'

and found that I actually enjoyed it,

I have found similar in London's Chinese restaurants since

you eat Duck / Chicken /eggs ...?

To have a chance at winning yourself a: VERY NICE PRIZE, all you have to do is post a picture of your most favourite MUNCHIES, here on this thread, and after a couple of weeks (or so) I will make the grand judgement, to determine what looks the most delicious.

It does not have to be CORDON BLEU, or the first item on the menu of international cuisine.

It could be just a bag of chips/crisps....or a KNICKERBOCKER-GLORY..

It could be a choice slice of PATAGONIAN BEAVER CHEESE....or a DEEP FRIED MARS BAR in batter....

Whatever takes your fancy, and gets the taste buds horny....post a pic, maybe I will feel the same as you about the snack, dinner, supper, breakfast or brunch (please no 'Hot Lunch') that you post....and then you can win 'The Very Nice Prize'.....
@Coco

I'm sorry you don't care for Balut, indeed it was not for my first choice,

it was something that I did try, and then learned to appreciate,

over 'Ethnic' cheese or for that matter Deep Fried Mars Bar too

I don't eat veal and I Would not eat Balut based on my personal feelings.
The balut is probably lovely as is veal. It's just one of those ethical things not cultural for me.
When I travel I eat just about everything That gets put in front of me.

Thanks for the share 88

Beef brisket with Cabbage and Potatoes

When I was just starting to go out with my wife she caught me eating beef brisket at 7:30 in the morning.
She thought I was weird.

I respect you tried something odd and enjoy i, there's lots of weird stuff I'll eat but the duck egg like that is just too much for me.

I suppose I should keep my personal feelings to myself though I did find it shocking, somewhat offensive (it looks cruel) Im not trying to make you feel bad for liking something I'm just shocked and sharing my feelings the competition is open to anything.

Really nothing personal this is all just fun. Sorry if my sharing my shock in turn offended you that wasn't my intention

I eat veal and lamb but often those animals are older than pigs take to slaughter.

Your brisket below looks nice.
