Deleting Your Account

I've installed a feature called "Delete Account", which is similar to the "nuke account" option you had before.

The option can be found under My IC, last option in the left column.

Be VERY CAREFUL with this! Once done, it cannot be undone!

Please read below - this is very important!

What it will do...
It will inform us via PM that you wish your account to be deleted.
This will not happen automatically. It can take up to 24 hrs.

Then once we process your request:
It will delete your profile and visitor messages
Prevent anyone from accessing any personal info (it's gone!)
Delete your Forum albums (but pics remain in posts)
Change your title to Guest

What it won't do...
1. It won't change your username!
Your username will still appear on your posts, but your name won't link anywhere.
2. It won't delete your Old Gallery!
Delete your images before you delete your account or you will lose access to do it.
3. It won't delete your Journal
You can delete your journal entries yourself before you delete your account.
4. It won't delete other entries such as videos, reviews, grow reports, strainguide entries, etc. So check these too if you need to.
5. It won't delete your posts! Your posts remain as part of icmag. To delete all of a person's posts means that it would also delete threads they started and all the posts that follow - in other words you'd delete other peoples postings without their consent. That's something we can't do for a lot of reasons.
6. It won't delete the PMs you sent to others.

In Summary
1. Admins will be informed of your request. It is not automatic deletion.
2. Check all your postings (not forum posts) to see what needs to be removed.
3. Your username and images will still appear in your posts.
4. Your account can never be restored nor can you regain access.

So THINK before you delete.

I'm sorry that we can't allow complete deletion of your activity here, but rest assured, your personal info will be gone (unless you posted up more than you should've in public forums).

Yes, you can no longer self-delete as it removes the posts of other members without their permission and it does not do a complete job. All requests for deletion must go thru an admin and include an explanation of why the account needs to be deleted so we know how to handle the request. We can do a far better job of removing data than an automated program that doesn't even address all sections of the website.

The info about account deletions have been updated as of now to reflect our current policies.

Please read it over before requesting a deletion.
