Bamboo is quick, thick. Willows, too. Thea Green Giant trees grow up to 3-5 feet per year. Or put up chicken wire fence 3-4 meters high and grow ivy.

Good luck!

hybrid willow is a cheap fast growing tree, you can even lay a long cane down in a trench for a quick hedge row.

Scotch Broom grows fast ... but is also extremely flammable. (Live Plant burns like it has gasoline for sap).

Blackberries maybe ?

Privet hedge. Buy some big plants to start and they will do the job pretty quite. Can be manicured easily.

From my experience, they are fast growing but extremely susceptible to insects compared to other cypress.

I'm thinking mites... needles even turned brown and fell off. I may have just had some unhealthy Leylands...again, just my experience.
