chillies and peppers

so i have this bed with a bunch of peppers (chillies, bells, banana). i have never grown peppers before.

now they are all fruiting, and are doing well, but i cannot for the life of me tell bananas, hungarian wax, and anaheims apart. the ones in question are 5-6 inches long, about an inch in diameter, maybe more. i picked what i thought to be bananas, and they ended up being hot, so now i think i actually picked h.wax. but also, some bananas are supposed to be slightly hot.

o man im pretty confused. please help.

also, how do you tell when serannos, poblanos, and jalapenos are ripe??? im pretty sure i can figure out when to pull cayennes.

The bananas and hot wax look the same,so just taste those.The banana peppers should not be hot at all.I think the anaheims look a little different.

ive certainly found the wax... ouch!

i think ill make some pepper jelly and use all of them together. that way i dont have to worry which is which anymore.

Green bell peppers are just unripe red, yellow or orange bells. People either eat peppers early or let them ripen longer for color and more sweetness, it's your choice. For example, jalapeno's can be ripened past green into red for some sweetness. The anaheims are usually made into chile relleno (stuffed chilis). They have a 'classic' taper to a point chili shape but wider at the shoulder than hungarians and are picked green, but I don't know what color they develop when they're ripe.

The serrano is an obviously different looking plant, but I guess you've figured that out.

Peppers respond well to picking off early fruit to encourage a bigger set, so don't hesitate to pick those early ones you want to identify.

they all sound so good. almost have some Sweet cherry peppers ready, we are goin to have a stinking gang oad of these

I have Jalapeno peppers here that I am growing out for seed.

This is the second year for this plant and boy is it a looker now.. All organic grown peppers hang red like ornaments on a Christmas Tree..

I would like to swap seeds with other Organic Pepper Growers..

All kinds are cool! I eat peppers! Love em..

These are my favorite Jalapeno peppers of all time.. Favored because they can be picked over time to a general hotness ranging from none to OMG..
Just have to know your plant and watch the peppers.

I'll post a picture if there is an interest.

i know what you mean about the jalapenos jack, 2nd year plants produce the best peppers imo. hot as fuck, big as fuck, and tasty as fuck. i might be able to help you with some seeds later on in the year. im sure i will have too many.

if you grew all the peppers close to one another, the bananas might be hot when they typically are a mild pepper
