I think we can agree that one of the most obnoxious practices of newer breeders is making a cross and then turning around and giving it an unrelated name that doesn't acknowledge the lineage. But, failing to include that most important pedigree is more of a marketing mistake than an ethical one. In the last 20 years, we've seen reputations trashed because breeders tried to BS about what went into the seeds they're selling.

Truth and trust are as much the product as the seeds are. The information that has been collected by growers and consumers about that seed line is as important as the genetics themselves. By trying to deny the lineage of the seeds they make, newer breeders are just devaluing their own product.

Here in the US we're seeing a frenzy of activity in the 'newly emerging cannabis market'. New players are trying to jocky for position as quickly as possible to assure they're first in line to make the big bucks. The need for speed makes some sense for aspiring dispensary owners and concentrate manufacturers, but newer growers often have trouble competing with established ones because they just haven't got the experience.

Then there's breeding. Breeding cannabis is playing the long game. There's really no substitute for experience. Personally, I think the best thing someone aspiring to learn breeding can do is apprentice with someone who's been doing it for years and try to establish their own reputation as a protege.

@ Sig.Greengenes,I can not disagree with what you say, making f2 is a game, making selection is an art .... and I (like many others) can only learn!

Some breeders are like that...they just want to share, others want to make some dosh. However its done it helps to propagate the industry.
This doesn't give him the right to call all people with different opinions idiots or "Gey" (sic). SWIM sent in several dozen packs for server fund for free and wouldn't have talked about it ever. I am ashamed now SWIM did so, seeing you let this person write everything what his sick mind is spitting out, while pretending to be the "good guy"!
Is this your kind of forum you want?

If this was the kind of forum I wanted.......then I wouldn't have members asking me 'Is this your kind of forum you want'...

well I pop alot seeds from all sorts of ""high end "" breeders , you really appreciate good breeders work .
when I find those guys I tend to stick with them year after year , there few and far between .

its great growing the latest hyped gear , but its hit and miss on quality . breeders who put the time into there lines are really consistent and I,ve seen even clone like results sometimes for the whole pack f1 . I,ve also noticed some those breeders gear ends up going to shit cause once they establish there name they start cutting corners to make the $ . its real shame .....or they were a one hit wonder and used something really stable they had for long time and soon as they venture out to do work of there own it go,s too shit.

sometimes a partnership breaks up and one guy has all the knowledge and the other guy just has the business name and no skills .... and still continues on
its a bit like when you take the mean gene out of aficionado , all they they pump out now is zkittlez x,s or magnum opus x,s
