In a lot of states it is not known who has what. Not every state has "registration". Many guns are home made, many passed down through inheritance and given as gifts, sold and bought privately.
Authorities may know that you own a single particular firearm but not know about the other ten stashed away.
How are guns going to be confiscated when they dont even know who has them or what they have?

NY is the one i know
if you're an otherwise law abiding citizen, not much risk from what i can see
but if you do a crime, game changes
in that case it becomes fair game, you will be charged if they get the warrant for a home search
at least that's what i've seen written up in the news

Ny won't even enforce assault weapons registry.The public outcry would be insane if the government starts kicking doors down taking guns. 100 million gun owners can create quite a stir. Even if 1% resist that's 1 million people. Wanna see 10 million people march on Washington, start making criminals of 1/3 of Americans. Leftist forget that the government can use those resources used to control them also.I can't imagine the chaos that would ensue.

Here is what you said for the record. Nothing about an aborted rape baby.........You said the "child" not baby itself is undesirable. i'd call that a fair assessment, likely the law was drafted with that knowledge
what happens over the coming years will show how it plays out
there are possibly millions(?) of guns in the NY that are currently illegal if not registered
those numbers make people feel safe, they know there is no big sweep coming
but if the pool of 'assault' guns goes down for various reasons
then there's a feeling of more risk, you're becoming more of a real outlaw with real consequences
so time will tell
