Semantics. A skunk that's been hit by a vehicle (aka roadkill) will stink of skunk for a quarter mile. That smell is so pungent that even if the damn thing was rotting for days you'd never smell it through the skunk spray odor. It's the shit that reeks through a triple ziplock and almost stings your eyes; no stinkier a skunk than one that got smoked by a car...hence roadkill.
