BTW in the mean time until I can aquire the 2nd NIL, I will be doing some practice sib matings with a gb bx4, should give me some ideas what to look for and expected results when we do the RIL...

Hi tony, I am curious to know more about your males selection technique that you used for your previous backcross (BC1 to BC4). I presume that you were not using DNA-base markers for the selection of your males that were to be use for the following BC, but that you were selecting them from their morphological trait. How many male were selected from each BC for the following pollination with the recurrent parent? Also, I assume that you were discarding all homozygous recessive individual, but I’m wondering if a progeny test were performed to determine the genotype of the backcross progeny before continuing with the next cross, in order to keep the good trait from the Sour Bubble that may be recessive but that you would want to be express in your project. Those plant would be of great interest but could not be identified from their morphological aspect at first view…
Have you thought about making feminized seeds from your BC4 while you are waiting to acquire the 2nd NIL from Dan… It could be interesting on a "marketing" point of view. If so, let me know, since all procedure detailed online are wrong and don’t allow the right molar ration of Nitrate Silver/Sodium Thiosulfate. |

Damn off the topic slamming a guy that put in alot of footwork to provide the masses with an amazing strain... do i sense a little jealou... well u know...
Sits back smoking some amazing Gorilla bubble... Alot of strains are made from tester seeds, and clones from friends.. just because hes not doing a 10,000 plant open poll.. Doesnt mean his and others involved in his project havnt selective bred this strain. This is about weed... if we have hard feelings keep them to ourselves... threads get binned over this crap.. Much Respect Tonygreen Dansbuds Joesey and obviously bogs seeds... the Gorilla bubble is fire!! Credit to all due!! This project mostly Tony and Dan...

Unfortunately I have no DNA marker tech. Contrary to what the shit poster up above says it took some effort to find the right males. Since gg4 has intersex traits and we are using SSD method one wrong selection would spell disaster for the following generation. I opted for SSD for the same reason, an open pollination could prove disastrous if a few bad plants slip through. That also puts a lot of pressure on you to select the proper male... Fortunately back crossing has segregated the line nicely. Back crossing does not create a true breeding strain or anywhere near it. So what we end up with is a small group of glue leaning plants, a large group of hybrid phenos, and a small group of sour bubble leaners. It is very easy to spot morphological differences from sprout. The phenos are very distinguished. The sour bubble plants have been culled within a week of sprouting. To separate the glue leaners from the hybrids is a bit more work and you have to let them grow more, from here you can start to see the little details that emerge. Leaf pattern and node length help a lot. Sour bubble type leaf and stalks show up very easily in the hybrid group once they get bigger. Big thick stalks and huge overlapping fans she is known for. I can tell easily because I have grown mainly sour bubble and gg4 exclusively for almost the last half decade. You cant just pick the tallest because those most often are hybrids ha. Anyway I have been whittling my groups down to the glue leaners then stress testing for intersex by stressing them through veg and early flower then revegging them. Of my glue leaning group the girls get tossed then any intersex expressions that show. Whats left is scored/rated on things like resin production, topping response, root growth, structure etc. Every single line, the males have been outcrossed to progeny test. After almost 4 years of working on it it is very easy to predict the outcome when using these males now. Stress testing includes, topping, nutrition manipulation, light disruption, drought, fridge testing (thanks Tom Hill) and the best is root manipulation. Fucking with your roots is one of the easiest ways to get intersex to show so I'll use a knife to cut roots or just plain old stick a hand in there and fuck em up. ![]() Interesting, since I talk about that a few oldd school guys have hit me up and say thats the way they used to make fem beans back in the day ha. The sour bubble group ranges from about 10-25% depending on the generation. I could keep back crossing forever but it will never become a homozygous line that way because the recurring parent is not homozygous heh. The next step forward involves full sib matings of the "glue leaning" group. A selfing test of the BX4 to see how uniform the progeny are will definitely give us and idea of whats going on so far. In the end I expect a homozygous line of some sort, not identical to gg4 but in her spirit. Another 4-5 years at least, we'll see.

Hi Tony, thank for your response! Let me know what results you get with the full sib matings of the "glue leaning" BC4 group when you'll be at that stage. Keep on the good work
