Heady,
Heady, ![]() At Agway in Arundel off 115 they have lobby compost year-round for just over $7. They store outside and bring inside for thawing if you call ahead. Real nice people, they also have a ton of standard amendments like alfalfa meal in 50# sacks. Might help folks in a pinch instead of driving to Fedco. Grow Depot in Augusta has compost bags infested with gnats thanks to Fixit Farms as it was all being stored inside together all winter, argh! Worm Power jacked their rate by 50% this year, WTF! Still had to buy a yard regardless cause its the best. I have been working in the COM lobster meal (not the blended meal) to your lobstah mix, a little hot but girls tend to like it. Aloe and Coconut concentrates from Buildasoil aren't that great from my tests, gotta find another source. |

So is almost everybodies, I spent 2 hours with a COM rep. over the weekend, and still felt good about using their products, especially if you can score it for under 7 a bag on sale with discounts. It beat out most of the local compost we tried last year that wasn't cut. Its definately the best store bought Ive tried....by far.

huh the bags of lobster we bought last year were all fully finished, nice sweet mushroom earth smell. no ammonia.
the benson farms on the other hand were probably on the hot side. you're right about the peat in the lobster stoney. afaik it helps balance moisture and avoid a proliferation of anerobic bacteria. to a certain extent it might be a good thing for a bagged compost. i've had poorly stored bags of compost that go completely anaerobic and they basically have to be thrown in the dumpster. smell like wet shit. definitely not something i'd want to share with my garden. quality home made compost is my first choice over any bagged stuff. if i'm buying compost i'm already compromising on quality IMO. but i gotta make the best of what i've got to work with ![]() essential--- time to start building some worm bins my friend ![]() nugs! bueno time the white x chemmy jones no. 5 i'm smoking a blunt from that little nug on the left right now and she is coating my mouth in her foul and wonderful flavor.
