Im sure he means a very mild solution with some nitrogen. tried that as well. The guys from DNA genetics talk about using mild solution of ferts on old stock during soak.

I've been working on a kit for old seeds. First step is always stratification. Need that cold period to simulate nature. 3 months is good in the fridge, at least 48 hours. Next I have developed an h2o2 rinse to remove debris and kickstart the process. Newer seeds 15 min, old seeds 1 hour. From there into a special mix of ga3, l-amino acids and such. Currently testing the infusion of sugar at this stage as a booster. 12 hour soak, warm dark. If still floating tap down, 12 hours more. Transfer to Petri dish paper towel method. Usually 24-48 hours here. Transfer to rooter plugs with special blend till ready. If anyone would be interested in a kit of this let me know. Happy growing.
