Rockwool Only

Heyooo.

there was a guy on OG i dont remember his name but he used to grow using only buckets and rockwool. it was like soil but with rockwool. he didnt use hydro. anyone remember the guy? is he around here? does anyone else know what im talking about and can help me?

i was planning on making my next grow like his and in the plannin stages when OG went down.

any help appreciated.

whole grow from top to bottom was rockwool cubes and buckets. it wasnt hydro it was like a soil grow using rockwool as the medium.

Rockwool is nasty stuff that gets salt build ups that can never be flushed out no matter what and will effect the taste of your smoke....you would be better off with something that remains a little bit more inert like coco...the only problem with coco and hand watering is not letting it dry out on you

I won't even use a cut that has a 1" rookwool cube on it because of the EC it puts off.

well obviously all what you say isnt true because the guy i was talking to had lovely plants, and people use rockwool as a medium and grow all the time. also do you know what inert means?

mace_ecam will become famous soon enough
inert means it doesn't change pH or EC
btw, neither rw nor coco are.

you can grow lovely plants in rw or any other medium, its the hands that make the dif.
can't help you with your question, sorry.

Put a cube of rookwool in a dish of nutrient rich water in a window for 60 days and do the say with an oasis cube, hydroton or some coco and tell me what dish looks the nastiest at the end of the 60 days

IMO rookwool is for cash croppers who don't care about a nice cured flavorful smoke

Smile Rockwool

I use rockwool all the time and it does have its problems but if you go with fewer ppm and use RW form1 you should be ok.Cubes transplant well into soil or hydroton, root cuttings well and you can fill a 3 gallon bucket with rockwool on a dripper and grow huge stinky plants.Heat and insects in combination however will pull the stink out of your rockwool grow and fuck you up.I prefer it for flower times less than 60 days beyond that there's to much risk for infection and waterlogging exacerbating the problems.I personallt prefer organic soil if I want the real danky head stash, but eventually the gnats move in and then well...You can succeed with rockwool you just have to work it.The above poster does have some valid points and am not in total disagreement.Don't let the rockwool get hot!I am not a cash cropper, just a regular soil, gravel perlite, hydroton hobbyist.PEACE!!!MUCHA LUCHA!!!

I was one of those folks on OG doin it that way (cubes in regular containers). Was in any of the few threads talking about it too. Do u remember thier avvy or name? I've since moved on to Coir because i no longer feel comfortable around airborn rockwool fibers, and actually the yield is better, but anyways those growcubes were me favorite for awhile...any questions u have just ask I may have something helpful to say.

hi acme , i remember the cat your talking about. I roll very similar and may be able to answer some Q's. I wouldnt want to start any shiz, so I wont even try and defend this method. I'll just let the gallery do the talking. Let the nonbelievers and naysayers have their say. But I say at least try it and keep your nutes low. Most peeps overnute and that causes alot of problems.
