I have grown many different imported seed batches from Durban, they were all at least a bit early, and all smelled and tasted at least a bit like Anise or licorice. I got the seeds from many different sources at many different times. The Cannabis sold in Durban is from Swaziland, Lesotho, Transkei, KwaZulu-Natal, and from the farm areas right around Duban. So what is real Durban Poison? All of the above is marketed as Durban Poison if it will help the sales. The real Swazi I grew was later maturing the the Duban. Smelled different, and looked different also. I got most of my seeds from friends that went to the farms, south of Durban and found seeds from the best plants for me. Where did you get yours? Who from and where from? -SamS |

Thanks for putting me right on that 1 sam.I've not been able to grow these out properly in the UK climate but those who've grown it out in warmer southern country's have had great results with it with flowering taking 10/11 weeks which is alot quicker then here in the UK.Here it starts flowering late aug to mid sept and goes through to late nov to mid dec in the greenhouse and would probably go alot longer if it wasn't for frosts and dark wet days of winter.I've got a few african seeds sativas including the swazi rooi bart which has got slightly wider leafs than the durban and a slightly sweeter peppery taste to it to,but i need to grow out alot more to find a keeper or 3.

Mostly I made Durban X Skunk#1 as it was great and people loved it, and also then lots fewer people used it to make knock-offs. I liked Durban, but it was not the best of the best of the best, It was early, interesting and loved by many, I do not know if pure Duban was more popular then the Durban/Skunk#1 or Durban/OHaze. But my and others Durban Poison is still around in many hybrids. People love the early NLD Sativa aspects and the anise/liquorice spicy taste and smells. -SamS |
