what's up ic? i figured i'd start a journal here since i've been using the site for reference for quite awhile and learned quite a bit. i thought maybe someone could find the way i grow useful cuz i've made it as easy and maintenance free as possible. my set up is based loosely on heath robinsons rack system, and i'm 100% organic. at the moment i only have 1/2 the room filled but things are moving along to where it should be full in about a month or so. i'm waiting for clones to root, and mom's to get to the point of shelling out 15 clones at a time. i'm gonna need to pop a few more beans here shortly too. also i'm still trying to complete the flower room, but every time i think i can, something else needs paid for. just missing some duct work to get to the attic, and the rest of the drip irrigation. anyway, enough bullshit, lets get down to the details...

the lights are stacked and flipped to run 1 bulb on each side of the room, 6 hrs for each mh and hps. i'll have 2k of light going for the full 12 hrs, using 4 bulbs. when 1 hps is running, a mh will be running on the other side of the tent. this way, no plants will be starved of light on either side of the room, plus they get residual light from the other 1/2 of the room.

Why do you call it the pollution factory?

Plants look legit dude, how far are they from the bulb (s)?

because everything coming out of it is considered a pollutant. anything that can change the chemical makeup of the body is a pollutant.

pollutant: noun 1. something that pollutes. 2.
any substance, as certain chemicals or waste products, that renders the air, soil, water, or other natural resource harmful or unsuitable for a specific purpose.

those natural resources include my brain, and the purpose, well that's anything i need to get done lol. plus it fit my name

depending on where they are in the rack and their structure, anywhere from 12"-24". they didn't lean out as much as they have in previous runs. that just means i need to drop my hps more, but that's gonna depend on the strain and stretch.

got home from work today, and was emptying the a/c drain and grabbed a flashlight to check a few girls that have been getting close (the plant in the 2nd pic) and noticed a spot or 2, actually 3, of yellow amongst the pistils on a sleetstak x la. took it out and put it under the scope and the top 1/2 was mostly cloudy (80%) with a spot or 2 of amber, so it got the axe. i left the bottom half to finish up. i noticed a banana on another too but left it for the night. it'll probably get a cola harvest too. i think the duct tape i had over the a/c controls bled and caused it, and i fixed that about a month ago. i found an immature seed, so it kinda fits the time frame. haven't been that vigilant about not staying out during lights off so it might be my fault. who knows...i'll have a better idea when i get some more plants run through. i'm thinking i need to thin em up around week 6 and just leave the top few fan leaves to get the bottoms to fatten up along with the tops. i tried taking a pic of the nanners but they didn't turn out. the camera on my phone sucks ass, and i lost the odd ball memory card for my camera. gonna try and get a new camera here if a few weeks.

after drying the hermied bud in a cfl, it's pretty good shit. the quick dry makes it not taste right but the potency is pretty good so far. not as good as cured bud but it'll work for now. this was the 1st harvest since december, and that was the test run in the rack.

sorry for the long post, i guess this stuff is a little better than i initially thought. it's taken me 20 minutes to write this lol.

ok so i've been thinking about popping a couple seeds, and started to look through my case to see what i had that might be good for the racks. i picked up a pack and there's the memory card for my camera i'll try and get some pics up tonight before lights off.... if they'll turn out.

like i said i was going through the stock and was wondering what you guys thought would be best for a sog like this out of the stuff i have....

some shots from today...9 1/2 weeks from the start of flowering (flipped on 4/20), so i figure they are really starting week 8ish. not sure when i'm gonna harvest these yet, but for now i'm just letting them go. sorry for the shitty pics. didn't get in there until after the hps lit.

took some more clones of the bd last night and threw em in the bubble cloner. gonna be the 1st try after cleaning everything so i'm hoping i got the funk out this time. brown algae sucks!!! transplanted 3 clones that made it though the algae, then a re-cut, then finally rooted in a rapid rooter. i was impressed 3 of the 15 made it. some look great but no roots showing from the rapid rooters yet though. i'm just gonna let em go and see if any more make it. bd is a pretty hardy strain imo. she had some brown algae in the cloner a few weeks ago, so i re-cut em, put em in some rapid rooters and they still rooted. very encouraging to say the least. i also took a cut of the yo mama today to see if she'll give me something to work with. i need to flower mom out. she seems ready to go, and i wanna let her rip. same thing with the bd mom, tried to thin her up but she is getting big. going to need a tomato cage to deal with her when i flip it.

for anyone that's heard of the 12+1 light schedule....don't do it. it's fucking dumb. tried it for 2 weeks and everything started flowering. the ym started and won't stop even under 16hrs of light. like she quit growing hoping the flip is coming. the bd kinda shook it off and went back to vegging after she started stacking bud sites. i tried it because ed rosenthal said it's a good idea.....just not in my garden. i was hoping for a slight stretch with the longer nights but instead i got budding moms. lesson learned...just an fyi for anyone who's read about it. not worth it imo. i'd rather do 14 hrs on and get a smaller stretch than 12+1 hoping they don't flower. as far as i had read at around 13 hrs (+/-) it will induce flowering so yeah, they flowered.

don't believe everything ed rosenthal tells ya...at least not in this instance. your mileage might vary.

A theory is circulating Facebook about the 12-1 light cycle as an energy-saving technique that facilitates excelerated growth during the vegetative stage of growth. Personal attacks are irrelevant, here is the scoop behind 12-1:

Plant growth is based on photosynthesis, which produces sugar.

When sugar is combined with Phosphorus (P) and Potassium (K) it forms amino acids, which are the building blocks of tissue and plant growth.

The more light plant’s receive the more building block amino acids they produce, aka growth.

They certainly grow well under the 12-1 light cycle as being advertised, but only simply because they are getting more light. Although it saves energy, energy equals growth.

***Editors Note: Because marijuana is a short-day annual, it measures the length of the dark period to determine when to flower (ie: after summer solstice the dark periods get longer and longer outdoors. You can prevent flowering indoors simpy by interrupting the dark period. A flash of light, rather than a full hour is all that is necessary to interrupt the dark period, so more energy would be saved by simply shutting off the lights for a minute.

what a crock of shit, imo.....i can see 13+1, but not 12+1....didn't work for me, and i can assure you i'll never try it again lol.

on another note.....the garlic breath has arrived!!!! hoping i can find a tennessee hogs breath pheno, or chem d pheno in em. even if they don't show it'll still be a fun run. probably gonna be germing them tonight.

should be a good day to stay indoors....already 104 degrees here today ("real feel" is 110 degrees atm), and supposed to be like that all fucking weekend, ugggghhhh i hate the fucking heat!
