150W HPS stacked minifridge - Micro Grows - International Cannagraphic Magazine Forums

Hey everyone!! iv decided to restart the frigidaire minifridge thread under disfunktional instead of BlackSheep. first reason is when i started the thread i was a complete newb and posted it in the growers forum(and there isnt any growth). second reason is i dont feel, after seeing so many other build threads, that i properly started the thread. thirdly i have been very indecisive through out the build ,as far as equiptment, and imo cluttered the thread. so here we go with the new more organized disfunktional 150W HPS stacked mini fridge build.

ok first a lil bit about the unit itself. its a frigidaire 4.4 cubic foot mini fridge stacked unit. it has a seperate freezer that will be the utility room and should give the fridge a nice clean apearence. i have completely gutted it down to the bare metal shell, and its very flimsy shell at that.

DIMENSIONS: flower cab 15-5/8"d x17-5/8"w x29-1/2"t.
utility cab 16"t x17-5/8"w x17-3/4"d

LIGHTING: as you can see, by the title of the thread, il be useing a 150 watt HPS to feed the girls light. iv purchased a hidhut 150w digital ballast for 79.99 recomended by expertsetup. it will be mounted on a slide rail that can be adjusted up and down and set to a desired height.

VENTILATION: for ventilation il be trying a new type of light trap. i started a thread about it and Scrub Ninja has helped out ALOT!!! it will be a intake/light trap/sump/sump cooler all in one. for a better description you can find it here. it will be a passive intake. the air will be exhausted through a 150 cfm panisonic whisper fan, which should be arriveing any day now, and will also be exhausting the utlity room air.

SCRUBBER: the scubber will be located between the flower cab and utility cab, right where the metal strip is that you can see from the outside. if everything works out is should get around 2" of carbon in a 9"x 8-13/16" removeable box.

GROW METHOD: as it is part of the intake the sump will be for my first try at hydro. DWC to be exact. the sump isn't going to be as big as i had hoped but it should be around 8 gallons. im going to give the eco plus 4 port air pump. as recomended by Aerohead il be trying airwands to make bubbles with. for now the sump will be built out of acrylic until it proves itself. if all works well then i will be constructing it out of aluminum. and once i get hydro down il be turning it into an aero sump.

now for some cab porn. all the pics are are from beginning up until now.here she is fresh out of the box still rapped in the protective plastic.

take a look at how much room il gain by gutting all the insulation. a total and complete pain in the ass but well worth the trouble.

a shot after its been gutted. really guys gutting the insullation was a pain, took about 8 hours in total.

now heres a pic of the mini fridge after iv got the floor, both walls, and ceiling installed.

for building material i used MDF. the walls are 3/4" because the outer metal work is, just as luck would have it, 3/4". the floors and ceilings are 1/2" MDF.

there will be a 1-1/2" false back wall where all the wireing and air tubeing will be routed as to keep them out of sight. well there it is the build has been slow but all good things come to those who wait. i thank everyone in advance for posting any tips or advice as it is very much so welcome.

I like the new home. The before/after fridge pics are great, you really increased you grow space. Your craftsmanship also looks very good. Sounds like your scrubber will be robust. Can't wait to see it all come together.

I guess it's my turn to do something to my fridge and try to make it look 1/8 like yours

So, can we expect new pictures somewhere around New year?
