So I wanted to get my feet wet pressing some rosin but I'm cheap and bored so I thought I'd make one.
Looking around the interwebs I see the hand clamp verity then then it jumps up to a big heavy bench top press. Working around the shop when I want a portable press I usually grab a c clamp style press.
It's smaller, lighter weight, sturdier and cheaper than a hand clamp. Yet it provides pressure in the thousands of lbs instead of a few hundred.
Still using a cheap hair straightener, it keeps all the electronics safely in there housing. The plates and the clamp are JB welded to the plywood frame. I plan to install some quide pins to keep everything aligned but it hasn't really been necessary. I've only done a few presses and am pleased with the results so far. I've found I have to be careful not to use to much pressure or it seems to tear the paper. Anyway here is my HashTree press.
