New show preview review

Well Ive watched a bunch of previewed shows due out soon and some this fall. Heres my breakdown.

Bionic Woman has finally been remade and NBC is running a hella lot of commercials before the pilot airs Sept 26th. Sad to say that after all the money spent on special effects and stunts there wasnt much dough left for a decent plot. In this version Jaime Sommers is stripped of her tennis glory and given the prestige of being a bartender. A suspicious car accident facilitates the weak plot along. This version decides to skip poor Steve Austin and OSI is seen as a darker version of the original with an incredibly bumbling track record in the bionics department. The only way this series will take off is if they implant Donald Trump and he bionically fires the current writers.

Californication This is going to be a new series on Showtime [ Aug 13th ] with David Duchovny. This is a nice fast paced adult comedy where Duchovny plays a book writer trying to get his writing grove back in all the wrong ways. I found the pilot pretty good if its a precursor of future episodes. Written well with nice comedic twists and quite a few scenes that appeal to the male side, Im surprized Davids wife Tia gave her approval on this. I look forward to future episodes of this one.

The Sarah Connor Chronicles This is a FOX series scheduled to air in early 2008. The series plays as if the T3 movie never happened and picks up right after the T2 movie ends with Sarah and John on the run of a seemingly endless supply of terminator units with fancy sub-programming of substitute teachers that prefer self mutilation over the convenience of things like a holster. Of course theres some friendly t-unit that comes to save the day and like much of the terminator time travel brainstorms they decide that their best bet to tackle Skynet is 7-8 years in the future. [wtf??]

Unless they can hire on Pam Anderson to come in as some bad ass terminator advisary they are beating to death the same old tired terminator plot that is in dire need of something new. The sad part is they are in the making of the T4 movie and somehow its supposed to tie into the series plot somehow.

Pushing Daisies This whimsicle comedy begins this fall on ABC. While theres so much that happens in the pilot the nuts and bolts of it are about a person named Ned with the wackey ability to bring back the dead albeit under certain terms. After someone learns of his abilities hes exploited into a money making scheme that takes a twist or two on the road to financial freedom. This one has some good potential and worth seeing where it goes.

Chuck This 'action-comedy' comes to NBC this fall and seems to fall a little short of both to be taken as either an action show or a comedy. NBC is betting on their current line of commercials begging us to give a rats ass about 'Chucks Secrets' when the reality is if Chuck doesnt try to poke the gorgeous blond filet by episode 2 his closeted secret will be out. The only funny part I found was the place where he works is a spoof on Best Buys Geek Squad called the Nerd Herd.

Dexter [ Showtime, season two Sept 30th ] While this one isnt a new series I have seen the first two episodes of season two and they are a great follow up and continuation of season one. If you havent caught this series yet.. do it. Dexter is a police forensics officer by day and a bad guy serial killer at night, the perfect combo.

I've been waiting to see a show or movie like this, and it's already been on the air for a little while, sad part is I've seen multiple commercials for it before movies start and I didn't realize what it was about. Looks like I'm gonna have to watch the previous episodes now

That and I've seen the first two episodes of Oz, that show is fantastic.

Dexter is my fav Sho offering. The newest funny for HBO is Flight of the Conchords. A jazzed up Tenacious D for a wider audience. Absolute hilarity.

One of the things I like is how well they get the vibe of the old video styles as their doing their songs. Tenacious D was great for the genre but I think FOTC is going to appeal to a wider adult audience.

I just got done watching the Cavemen pilot [ another comedy on ABC due in the fall based on the Geico commercials ] and it is funny as it gets. Good writers and a soundtrack of songs youre not going to believe until you hear it.

Man you missed a lot of good shows.

What about WEEDS on Showtime this is a series about growing...I would of thought all here would be a fan of that show

Then there is BIG LOVE on HBO.....This is a show about polgamy and the main charater has 3 wifes....I would of thought any man would be a fan of that show.

I have to say I am a fan of DEXTER as well....but I am concerned that the writers will not be able to top last season... We will see

And last...HOUSE this show is just the best show on period.

Theres a few others I can review Im not sure about like Cane, Lipstick Jungle, and The Big Bang Theory.

I think I'll check out The Big Bang Theory [comedy] since the other two look like crap based on their website info.

Watched Aliens in America a new comedy out in the fall for NBC. Its ok, feels like a more modern version of The Wonder Years with a twist. Decent writers and a modern rock soundtrack that rivals that of the Cavemen series.

IMO, top gear is the best TV show made in the English speaking world. :2cents:

ever see the one where they tried to wreck an 85 tacoma, and couldn't kill it.. they put it ontop of a condemnded building and blew the building the fuck up. a few patched connections.. still ran.

Watched the second episode of Californication. Wasnt as good as the first but theres one scene everyone will talk about. Theres also a surprize appearance of pornstar Brooke Banner where she asks Duchovney to critique her private parts.

Search torrents for the word 'preair' and there all out there. Asides from that theres been plenty of commercials running for the above shows airing this fall.
