Well this takes the myth out of "do cops use heat seeking helicoptor equip to locate grows. The tv prog on iplayer includes footage about police using electricity companies heat scanning equip from a helicoptor over Bristol to locate grows, and busting some.

Making me wonder if the air I`m pumping up into my attic from the spare room is enough to make my roof glow. WOndering how I can root it to my cellar without it through my house:thinking:

Sorry, I hope the links given by G.Sh above will be suffice. The programme is a aimed at the middle classes, but the programme doesn`t come down hard on growers and I imagine more people will be turned onto growing after watching the prog, rather than putting them off.

They give fair rep to an ex seed grower, grow shop. head shops and tokers. Choppers in the air looking for us I dont like one bit though. They cost several £thou per hour to fly though so I cant see it being a major tool, but the next time they`re on the lookout for a criminal in your area, you dont want your place to stand out from others eh? Be as safe as posible.

I dont understand the use of the elec companies chopper, other than saving their own fuel, cos I thought police choppers had the heat seeking thermal imaging equip as standard for tracking people, a freshly parked car with a warm engine and the likes for dealing with police chases, or looking for someone on the run from something.

Of course mostly the cops in the programme are total f##kwits as you`d expect, its their jobs to be total F##kwits when it comes to busting people for this issue/law! Mightier than thou attitudes, and all because we like to grow and consume a pleasant plant.

If you can, Exhaust down your toilet and into the sewer, seal your windows properly with an air gap or 2 and insulate the window so no heat can get to it. Zero heat will be seen from above :)

Yeah some kid goes off the rails, he happened to smoke mj, and mummy needs something to blame. Fact is mummy wouldn`t let go of her lil boy and it caused shit to be a lot worse.

Dont get me wrong, a tough time as a teenager can be really bad, as is depression and suicide, but to hang the blame on weed is not really trying to see what`s happening to these kids. I imagine the kinda hassle he`s had from his mum is a large part to do with his behavior, and now he`s bought into her view of things, poor kid. I was a black sheep of the family, the sooner I got away from it the better, nobody else has ever seen me as a black sheep, or trouble in the 30yrs since. I didn`t buy into the bullshit they were feeding me. They still dont approve of my lifestyle choices, but at least they see them as my choices. Sorry I`m just rambling on now.

The kid you`re referring to is mummy`s boy turned bad, then turned good again. One bitch of a mother too, good boy, bad weed, oh diddums!

Exhaust down the toilet, you`re taking the piss surely:biggrin:. I think the nieghbours would be complaining about my excessive wind!!:whistling:

Even if you didn`t use the toilet, ie not living there or have a spare one, most toilet pipes go to the sewer via a plastic pipe down an outside wall, that`d glow Luke Skywalkers lighty up swordy wand thingy for the chopper I reckon. Maybe I`ll find a way of pumping back into the house and let it dissipate before finding its way outside, and instead of pumping air into the loft, draw it in from there. . . . . now where can I pump it back into the house I wonder??:thinking:

Amusing video... as usual. The cops have no idea whats going on, just how to tear a grow down. all the grows looks really shotty... I was LOL'ing when they were talking about skunk being super potent, the value of what looked like a 10k "commercial" setup netting millions of pounds, ect.

Mostly a scare tactic, but it seems you blokes on the other side of the pond have some serious heat coming. I mean we have CAMP, and all they do is rip, they never arrest...

im pretty sure they dont bother or cant see smaller grows

i have a mate in the force, and he said everytime he been in a grow raid they found more than 12 lights

1 thing you guys need to understand is that they show us a particular hot spot from the helicopter and then show you a house theyve gone into. doesnt mean they are the same house.

i know someone that used to grow in his loft, actually 3 people, and none have had problems. not for a long time. they use 4 x 600w

a friend of mine got caught with probably 20 lights kicking. this he think is from the choppers. i think his neighbours grassed him

the police get more tipoff's every day. so i think (my opinion here) they dont send the choppers out on a regular basis, + im sure in london they have better/more important things to get on with. not to mention the cost involved

anyway, the police have these glasses now. they can walk down your street, and look at your house wearing them, and they will see your grow. or they can park opposite your house, and look at your house.

i say fuck them all. dont make this stop you. the problem with us brits is.... we dont speak up. if you ever get caught, get your story drummed into your head, and drum it into theirs. your not a thief, bank robber or rapeist, just a lover of the weed and a socialist. we are the better people of society

Thanks for the link! Wow, the cops are out of control over there these days. Was it always like this, or is it more of the "nanny state" horseshit?

I love the "It's not the same stuff you smoked in college, it's like a super-strength cousin of cannabis" soundbite. That's the same kind of dumb argument they make in the USA. As if it's a bad thing.

i have a irgun aswell there price is coming down.and i use it all the time. also if you cant aford one of them theres a lazer thermometer and it is used by machanics.

Its more in the citys where the cops got nothing better to do, like somerset etc... in London theres too much violent crime to focus on people growing a personal stash i reckon, what a waste of time & police resources anyway! Trying to get rid of a plant that will NEVER EVER be gotten rid of

Unfortunately, the cops have an inbuilt ability to waste resources and money, and often dont get there priorities right. I think the busts are usually for political reasons and numbers per crime etc., it doesn`t take much time or effort to bust a few grows, whereas tackling serious narcotics is a lot tougher! The drug squads send a few coppers out to bust the grows, then brag about how clever they were in detecting them, which is usually always PR bullshit.

I remember a case where the cops were saying how 2 cops came across a grow after some "clever detective work", what actually happened was someone had left a hose filling a res in a housefull of weed, water poored down the stairs and out of the front door and straight onto the pavement of a busy city street. The cops thought some old dear had left her bath running, no answer at the door so they look through the letterbox and can see and smell the weed. . . . . . the careless gardener/s were never caught. Fucking A1 detectives? Heh heh, as long as they stay that stupid, we should be ok if we take a little care eh?:biggrin:

thermal imaging and temps are all the same ones a pic ones a number.the brighter the object is the higher the temp.you should be able to google it and come up with the differnt temp per contrass on imaging.then you take your over all temps with the cheaper device and figure what the over all pic is there veiwing with there device.rember there not looking threw a scope they have a screen that is in 0's and 1's so there device just is the same but with computer programing runing.or you could get a expencive nightvision spotting scope and the hot areas will show brighter. i for one can use my laser temp gun and get an over all temp reading of my roof.then have a good ideal of what there going to see.if you could vent out to an cloths dryer vent you will be lucky.me for me i will be growing out in a shed so what i will need to do is find other sheds in my area and copycat the common temps.reflective insulation will cover you quit a bit and then pumping out your warmer air is up to you. what some one else said in this thread was good advise copy the roof temps of the other homes on your street.
