Fans at night?

Who here leaves the fan on all the time?
Who turns it off at lights off?
I mean the fan for room circulation, not the one for the light. A buddy of mine thinks this is a problem he is having with his dying clones.

any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks, Kq2g

rooted, under CFL system

i think its just too hot in there (80-90 ALL the time)

older leaves are drying to a brown crispy state but new growth seems alright

hey good question just keep temp around 78 with a humidity of 40% and i suggest to save electricity get a little clip fan that you can clip on to somthing and run her during the night and your temp cooling fans during the day (for the heat of the light)
just my 2 cents to save elect. cost it adds up evetually i had my fans on timers

i keep mine going 24/7 and for good reasons like keeping humidity low and so that the plants can get the co2 they need

I had the fan hooked up to my timer so when the lights went out so did the fans. I see leaving the fan on at night not to be a problem because naturally there is wind at night. On or off shouldn't be a problem.

I seem to get that problem if I leave my plants under CFL's for more than 10 days and the temps are up in the range you discribed. I dont know why?? It's just to hot for the young ones I guess even with the fans on 24/7.

I dont have this problem when bringing them under the big MH light for veg ASAP and transplant from 1 qt to 2 gallon pots as soon as I see the feelers popping out the bottom. I dont know why that is because people grow all the time under CFL's, but I consistantly get that problem if I go more than 10 day's or so and the temps are around 85.

Fortunatly the grow site temps are falling right now and I dont have as much of a heat issue at the moment.

If you are using the fan to keep temps low that fine but thats the only good reason to run the fans in the dark. Plus at night with no lights on temps should be fine anyway. Someone said this

However its wrong. In the dark your plants dont need CO2. Its a basic lesson of photosynthesis. Your plants need light for it to utilize CO2 and change it into energy. No light means no photosynthesis. So your plants dont need CO2 in the dark.

Not really a good call , though i thank you. Its just baisc science.

Photo -light
Synthesis-putting together.
(
photo=light, synthesis=putting together), generally, is the synthesis of sugar from light, carbon dioxide and water, with oxygen as a waste product. It is arguably the most important biochemical pathway known; nearly all life depends on it. It is an extremely complex process, comprised of many coordinated biochemical reactions. It occurs in higher plants, algae, some bacteria, and some protists, organisms collectively referred to as photoautotrophs. This article summarizes some of the major aspects of the process and provides links to more detailed articles explaining the numerous technical details, and implications, involved.

So without light you aint doing shit. Leave the fans off at night and save your electricity. Your plants wont use shit at night without light. Hope that helped.

I like to run my fan all nite so the plants get moved around all the time . I think it gives them strong stems and they love the air movement.

Now that is one good reason to have the fans on at night. It will makes stems stronger. cant argue with that.
