What I though was particularly outrageous, next to only 5 years for taking an innocent person's life, was the sentence on the 2nd count which was as I understood it, 3 years suspended so long as the accused doesn't commit any other crimes involving a firearm for a period of 5 years and that this sentence is to be run concurrently with the first sentence of 5 years. Now think about that for a second. He goes to prison for 5 years. Presumably there are no firearms available in prison. If he doesn't commit any crime using a firearm for that 5 years (since the 2nd sentence is concurrent) then he doesn't have to do the 3 years for the second charge.

That's pretty freaking lenient for killing your girlfriend in cold blood.

.....um yeah, rhino poaches are getting 70year sentences.... Iv you amazed by the OP case try get your hands on a book about the Brett Kebble murder trail, happened in '05... That'll give you real insight to the legal systems here... actually saw one major individual from that case in the rows last week.... not surprised to say the least.... he'll probably even partake in Rio in 2016....

That he's been put in Jail is Justice.The length of time is not..
And Especially when you think 10mths and he's maybe/probably set free he's gonna be in the "plushier" hospital wing too

shanks are the tool of inmates ..the only sound heard is the guy screeming. most attacks don't end in death..poor planning and execution IMHO..yeehaw

The story I heard was saying they might be giving him his own private section in a hospital ward because of potential dangers he might face in general population.

Yep, hospital ward for 10 months then home and work.... I would get more for growing weed.
