A try at Green/Purple Haze x Thai outdoors at 44 degrees north

A week later and HxT #4 is still not flowering. I now had a look at my photos from 2012 when I grew Nirvana's Haze at the same place, it started flowering (first pistils on tops) on the 22nd of September. So Ace's Haze x Thai seems to be at least a week slower in flowering initiation compared to the dutch Haze.
Anyways, it seems to be in good health, despite having several of its lowers horizontal branches broken by a recent storm:

Here's the Panama, which is getting frosty, and the small HxT #1 branch next it it.

Hi there!

HxT #4 is finally entering flowering, with the first pistils appearing on its tops. It looks wonderful with its compact structure and branches full of budding sites.

A zoom-in at its top:

And a few photos of branch tops:

It received some damage by stem borers and other pests, which is a bit surprising to see so late in the season - I usually see this in the end of August and beginning of September:

The branch of HxT #1 left to donate pollen is dying. I should have covered the wound when I cut the rest of the plant. It seems some fungus has invaded the plant through the cut while it was soaked with water during the rains 2 weeks ago.

The Panama next to it is doing fine. Great resin coverage and solid dense flowers.

Yoss,

Despite setbacks, you are racking up another stellar year. This is my favorite plant and picture so far:

I love those very long skinny light green leaves.

All the best this fall,

Thanks, man! :)

The photo you liked was taken in late afternoon when the sun light itself is more yellow.
Lately, HxT #4 has been getting slightly paler because of the solid rains and not so much sun, but in general, all 4 of the Haze x Thais were of darker shade of green than one would expect from Haze, I guess Meao Thai's darker color dominated in the hybrid. The small Panama plant is of paler green color.

Here's another photo of HxT #4 taken in the late afternoon:

The Panama is gaining very nice resin and dense flowers, the buds look like sativa-indica hybrid ones.

Thanks for the compliments and wishes, ManyManySpliffs! :tiphat:

Here's the weekly update.

I decided to let the Panama run a few more days even though its trichomes are swelled and cloudy. It's still very smelly and has a single spot of mold - an old dead preflower within a bud. I decided let her sit in the damp weather (we had 2 days of sparce rains) to see how this spot develops.
HxT #4 is getting some beautiful purple hues within the buds and in leaf veins. So so hazy.

Here it is among the trees that are losing their leaves:

What a better sight than a purpling Haze?

Beautiful ladies you've got there, yoss33!
Yet I see no staking or any support whatsoever. Will it hold out against a violent downpour that might break out? Fingers crossed for you!

And something irrelevant, one of my Jamdels, the one that's been topped, developed the same pathogen like yours last year in the centre of the canopy...

The HxT #4 has a steel rod next to it to support the main stem, and there are strings tying the big branches to the main stem (so that they don't fall away/down from it). These branches don't have support for falling to their side, only for falling downwards. So far, only small branches in the bottom part of the plant have been lost to storms.

As for pathogens, I'm happy that this year I managed to not let my big plant suffer from pythium. Unlike in the previous years, I've been careful not to overwater and not to water in the hot hours of the day when the ground is warm.

This one is truly pungent too! Sweet and spicy. No perfume-like complexity and attractiveness of the smell, but it reeks of good weed :)

Yoss,

That Panama looks spectacular. I'm really looking forward to your smoke report, since you seem to like what sounds to me are the same types of highs that I do. I have procured some Panama seeds myself. If the mold does not spread, and you like the high, it may be the perfect strain to bring the venerable Hazes into the flowering timing that is more suited to your area. Late enough to avoid the roadside hemp pollen, yet earlier than the riskier late Hazes. Provided you wanted to do some breeding.

Always enjoying your grows,

ThaiBliss
