Glycerin Tinctures?

M

Hello and good day,

I've been googling, searching ICmag, and have yet to find a definitive guide to creating a strong cold press glycerin tincture.

From my understanding of what I've read and viewed, you must:

1. Grind all material (not too fine)
2. Do you decarb prior to putting into glycerin?
3. Place ground material in mason jar.
4. Fill mason jar with desired amount of glycerin. Speaking of, what's a good ratio using AAA nugs? How many grams of nugs to ounces of glycerin?
5. Store in warm, yet dark, place and shake daily for five minutes per day, for 60-120 days.
6? I've seen some folks say that they give their mason jar an oil bath before straining, pressing, and placing into jars. Is this necessary? What does it accomplish? If material was decarbed prior to putting into the jar, is this required? Is decarb or this warm oil bath necessary for a good final product?

At the end of the time in the jar, use a food press, or something similar, to press out the glycerin and strain. Place strained, pressed, glycerin in dropper bottles. Enjoy.

I want to create something that only requires 1-3 pipettes full for a good, euphoric, undoubtedly enjoyable high.

If this is answered somewhere in definitive terms from folks with experience, I do apologize. If not, I'd appreciate any help I can get from one of those with said experience. Not to be a dick, but I don't want a 13 year old kid giving me hypotheticals. If nothing is heard, I'll try on my own and hope for the best. I'd truly prefer not wasting my valuables if my process is flawed.

Thanks all!

As always, stay safe, live in love, and for the love of god keep your mouth shut.

So, after talking with my friend I found a great site with seemingly every, and any, thing to do with glycerin tinctures and a variety of other concentrates.

I take no credit at all for this. For the lovely piece of information you must thank the great people of skunkpharmresearch. Shout out to Gray Wolf!

However, I do still find that one of my questions is not addressed. That is, what is the ratio of bud to glycerin for a strong product? Assuming I'm using AAA nugs.

Thanks all!

I've only been dissapointed. You just can't get the desired effect from these glycerin tincs. They always come out super diluted. I have tried cold and slow, warm crock pot style, used kief, ice hash, and hash oil. Some taste better than others but no punch in any of them. My wife is very low tolerance and she laughs at me when I get her to test them.
The best alternative I've found is the new vaped skillet attachment that threads on to my vision battery. vaping hash oil on the coil, one to two hits has me where I like to be, but a few more and I'm on the couch and very amotivational.
It is not perfected yet but it is the best option I have tried. Good luck , but I wouldn't waste my time with the glycerin tinc. Maybe try ej mix, with oil, that could work.

We weren't able to do it in one shot.

VG is limited in how much cannabis oil it will hold in solution. We maxed ours out by running a second batch of material in the same solution as the first batch.

We were able to homgenize 38% essential oil into suspension with VG, but I'm guessing maybe half that much by soaking plant material.

I can share my little experience with liquid extracts. In the last few months I found a way to produce e-liquid strong enough to get me deeply stoned or high, depending on the mix a choose.

I extract THC with ethanol from water cured buds (for less to none chlorophyll and other compounds not desirable on a e-cig).

If you are interested I can detail my methods based on 'kitchen chemistry'.

Hey Hempfield,
I would definitely like to see your process. I too have tried this but find it pretty weak, but have not run the same VG 2 times yet. I just use enough to cover the material.

I'd love to hear any, and all, insights/experiences. Especially if using a cold press tek.

I recently made a batch. I used around 10ml per gram of dry herb. I used vg and pg (propylene glycol) . I used 8ml vg and 2ml pg per gram. I decided for 30minutes at 220 degrees. Then added my vg/pg and herb to a mason jar and steeped it in a double boiler on the stove keeping the water at near boiling but not a full boil for around an hour. Then cooled and strained using a plastic mesh kitchen strainer, then 180 micron bubble hash bag. The results are OK. It isn't very potent, but will give you a head change and has a pleasant taste that reminds me of edibles. I watched this process on YouTube, that's where I got the process from. I wish I would have used less pg/vg to dry herb to increase potency. I will try it again next harvest.

I don't see an edit button, but auto correct got me.

I have a thread started on the Romanian section , only in romanian language (but if more users are interested I can start a new thread in english).

The images are self explanatory.

The one glycerin tincture I made was very weak but it was delicious, at least a few drops at a time. I scrapped the batch because I wanted something very concentrated that could be taken orally, by the drop.

Thank you GW for the insight regarding the maximum concentration point. That explains what seems to the biggest issue with glycerin tinctures

I have never thought of vaping glycerin tincture but I'd imagine the potency limitation remains.

Getting a solvent extracted concentrate to remain suspended in VG, or whatever vapable carrier liquid, seems to be the only way to get it right.

In the meantime, a mechanical mod with no wick. Put dabs on sub ohm coils and fire away. Simple and it is the closest thing to a hot nail, which of course is the apotheosis of dabbing.

IMHO.
