I was hoping this would get a thread! Can't wait to see it running!

Are the beds on the floor of the tent or slightly elevated? I've been thinking of elevating mine 1-2" for some air flow......any thoughts?

As much as I love Glue, 1/2 glue and 1/2 LDawg would be awesome to see side by side........LDawg is a real gem.

:respect:

I had considered doing just that, making a small frame to sit the beds on top of, with strong plastic fence to keep the bottom off the floor. Then I realized if I were to do that in the name of airflow, then the frame itself would have to be slotted or holed to allow air through and just decided to say fuck it.

Yeah $, anytime brother, I love talking shop :)

Tona, it's always a pleasure to have you along.

Within 24 hours, I already had patches of mycelium growing on top.
I got 3 beds filled with plants today. 9 each. I have the 4th bed's worth of plants vegging for another week or two. I didn't take my camera with me today, so pictures to come tomorrow.

I am really really super excited about this.

I really really am excited

WHEW! Ok guys, I'm not gonna lie. Yesterday when I was transplanting, I was REAL nervous about seeing the plants today.

I didn't mention this, but that soil got VERY warm. I've transplanted directly into freshly mixed dirt before, but this seemed a bit warmer than I've ever experienced.

I bought a myco/trich mix from kelp4less and watered an eyed amount into the beds once all the dirt was in there.

That fucking shit must seriously be LOADED with fresh goodies because as I said, there were spots of mycelium all
over the surfaces and about 4 inches down I wouldn't doubt it if it was over 100 degrees. Just after 24 hours.

Thankfully, the plants were LOVING it when I went to look at them today. Not one of them seemed the least bit unhappy in their new home.

They have a few thrips so they'll get hit with spinosad tomorrow and then again in a few days. Thrips are really no big deal and die easily with spinosad.

I actually took more picture of my soil than I did my plants today. All the mycorrhizae everywhere is amazing me.

For those that aren't aware, this stuff helps break down the amendments into a readily available form of nutrients for the plants.
They create vast networks within the soil to help bring nutrients to the roots from far away.
The most interesting thing about this stuff, to me, is the fact that plants that are connected to each other by way of this mycorrhizal network actually communicate with each other.
An example of how they communicate would be this - One of my plants for whatever reason is not quite as healthy as the other in the bed and starts to get attacked by spider mites.
The other plants are able to sense this via the network and boost their own natural defenses to help repel the mites attacking the weak plant. http://scholar.harvard.edu/files/cmhart/files/2013_media_messaging_-_all_papers_merged.pdf....
weird, that link isn't working, please try this http://scholar.harvard.edu/files/cmhart/files/2013_media_messaging_-_all_papers_merged.pdf
So let me get the soil porn out of the way -

In less than 48 hours it's actually starting to cover the entire surface.

That one's kinda blurry, but it's cool seeing the tiny strands and the droplets of moisture.

I noticed the liquor from the beginning. Pretty standard for old guys.
What I want to know is, what drunk idiot left a bulb in there?

I should mention that neither of us drink hard liquor. He drinks warm coors lite poured over crushed ice. I drink only beer and I can't really go above 5% abv.

I'm not even sure what all that hard liquor is there for, let alone how or why a lone bulb ended up in there. I can come up with a few ideas...

update time! how do you "deploy" the blumats? that is, do you hand water the media before putting them in like it said in the old blumat thread? do they ever jam up on ya?

i ended up ordering 8 10 gallon geopots, only because of my need to move them individually, and i will copy your recipe, however substituting coco pyth for peat and "grow rocks" i have on hand for the perlite. i'm not worried about the rocks but i do wonder a bit about the coco, however i've read earthworms love it just as much, so i supposed we'll see. i've been "no till" replanting 5g smarties of pure coco for several seasons now, but that's a feed-every-watering DTW regime even still. i'll be hand watering the first round just because of cheapness and habit, haha.

Sorry for the delay guys, we ran into an issue with the AC being too close to the wall of the tent. Things got VERY hot in there for a couple of days and I was pulling my hair out.

The old man came up with the brilliant idea of installing the AC in the doorway to the room and installing a short door underneath it. I'll have to duck to get into the room, but that's no biggie. I'm pretty sure that will solve our cooling problem. We have fresh gg4 plants to go in once everything is good.

I rushed things a little bit getting everything set up. I wanted to get those plants flipped before they got too big and ended up getting delayed because of my haste anyway. It's all good, once it's going, it should be pretty smooth sailing.

I used blumats when i grew chysanthemums for competition years back
I used the ceramic ones with adjustable tops took about 2 weeks to tune each to each pot ,having diff strains.
Obviously laps bed method evens the moisture out.

Oh i won best incurved and totally pissed the old men off .

Prize was 12 ft x 6 ft greenhouse.A

5:3:2 peat:perlite:ewc with 2 tbls/gallon of bone and lime and 1 tblsp/gallon blood, kelp, greensand, biotone starter plus is what I start off with. Then I reammend after every harvest or before every transplant.

Lately, I've been re ammending with neem cake, oyster shell flower, azomite, and sul po mg, in addition to what I initially use, all at varying amounts.

Curious when you say reamend do you mean just do a fresh top dress or work the meals/nutes back in by stirring? :tiphat:
