Plant has over grown light in vert setup

My plant has started flowering about 4 weeks and the mother plant which I flowered with a bunch of clones is like taking over my cab. I think I'll be ok with the overcrowding.

However I am concerned that my bud sites on the mother have overgrown the light and are pressed up against the top of the cab theres no way to tie it off the stock is too thick. and would not leave room for the clones. My fan leaves are getting shit loads of light on the other hand.

I have a 600w hps dimmed to 50% because of my small cab but the light is right at 6 inch from all the plants its hard on the clones but once they get over transplant shock they seem to be doing awesome.

To me, I'm thinking the fan leaves can support the bud growth it has good hairs and all but is already bent at 90 angle. So I would like the IC communities input on this one. How is this going to effect my yield and to what extent and recommended plan of action.

I would do one of two things. If the top. Most buds look like they won't develop cut them. Not all at once you don't want to shock the plant. That way it can move it's resources to the buds that are getting light. Another thing you could do is just leave it and see how it goes. Learn from the experience and see how the plant reacts. You will only learn more for next time. Don't stress though harvest is 4 weeks away or so and you can start a new with what you learned.

Can you low stress train the buds down? Tie up the main and move it inches down at a time each day a little more. Use other strings to pull and bend and bondage that butch. You can also snap the main stem
Use two fingers and a thumb, crush the main stem with a light squeeze until you feel it break. Bend the main stem down or to the side. It will look fucked. Just support it and make sure you don't break the outer plant wall too much. It will mend up in time and will force the lower growth to explode up more. Super cropping is the term I believe.

Excellent post stay ! such a good response totally agree wit this and I have done this is the past not optimal but like stay said it will grow back twice as strong.

Only thing I want to add is if you injury it too much you can use tape to wrap it around the wound it will help support it :D

Yeah I'm definitely not rushing harvest I just want to do what I can now ahead of time. And I thought about snapping it but its really thick so I figured it would destroy it. And this is my first grow so I've been vegging a mother for like 4 months taking a bunch of clones up to the first week of flower. So I decided not to trim it any more and kinda just see how it grows.

So far the top bud is just as far along as the rest of the plant if not further. but the bud is a pale green that fades into the white hairs. You think that effects the smoke or quality?

Moving it down inches at a time is a good idea my dumb ass was over here trying to bend it one shot and it wasn't happening

If you are at four weeks of flower it will not stretch much more if at all. Most plants are ten weeks or less for flower. Twenty eight days is what most ten week strains take for stretch. I don't think you have anything to worry about except for shaded areas.

If you want to do what was mentioned earlier the snapping of the stems internal support you cold do that. To do that it is best to place your thumbs on to adjacent bud sites or branch spots. Then gently twist in opposite directions till you hear the snap. You must be careful not to twist to fast or hard so you don't pull the skin off the branch. If one snap does not get enough of a bend move to the next set of adjacent spots and do it again.

My personal thought is this is better done at the beginning of flower and not after stretch is over. You have a small chance of losing the tip which could be some of your best buds. With no experience with doing this that small chance will be higher.

Some of the best smoke is shade grown so to speak. Growing is one of those things where you will learn over time the plant just grows. It's weed man. Grows just like the name. When you start to see smoke from different types of weed you grew it's a fun experience. This run I am having is far from perfect but I just laugh and grow some herb. Training is an art for heh. Bonsai! Don't let big fan leaves block buds. Little trick I do is drill 8 holes in the pots edge. Easy point to tie branches too. Small bits at a time. They sell this shit for like 5 bucks at the hardware store. I use it religiously. Don't cut into the plants and is very adjustable. http://www.harrodhorticultural.com/flexible-garden-tie-pid9301.html with Low stress training it's all about bending your plant very little bits at a time. Shaping it out over its whole life waiting for the final product. It's a bit intensive but you really connect with your plants. I always talk to em as I am training em. "aw damn mama I didn't notice you were bent outta shape, let me fix that for ya." all the way to" yeah you dirty bitches like being tied up don't ya" I found they like it when you talk mean to them.

For the breaking I do a squeeze. Best way to describe. You will feel the wall crunch and it will flop over a bit. Support it up, tape if needed. Not preferable this late in flower but it is an idea. I would depending. Branch breaks happen a lot when you get up to big plants unsupported. I've had some huge main Colas snap 2 weeks to finish. I just let them dangle supported a bit and they finish out fine.
