i read that but am still curious of your opinion. have you used it? it sound unappealing in tha pdf but i wonder if in a high frequency multifeed it would mitigate those issues.

nah...I use perlite. Cheaper and cleaner. But I was using pumice until I read this pdf.

But if there were no perlite, I would be looking at pyroclastic volcanic materials, check out that section. Particularly the red and yellow tuff (not the black). I would love to play around with this stuff.

Axis Regular is what I use. Its Calcined diatomaceous earth. It works great and doesn't break down in the media. I had read elsewhere online that napa 8822 was the same thing, but others here have had problems with it. Then I stumbled upon this just now googling.

Near the end of the thread someone mentioned Optisorb as a great Calcined DE. And its mined by EP Minerals, which produces Axis Regular, and Napa 8822. All 3 are supposed to be the same thing from what Ive gathered, but possible different particle sizes.

Im gonna go pick up some EP Minerals Optisorb this afternoon and check it out. Its available at local auto stores like O'Reilly's Auto Parts.

I picked up the OPtisorb and it would appear it is the exact same product as Axis Regular or Napa 8822. If you guys are looking for a good Calcined DE product Id recommend finding your nearest Napa or O'Reillys.

oh i dont hate cats im just scared of them and they gross me out. i have nightmares about cats. i think i may have a mental illess.

I sleep every night under a pile of kitties that were all unapproachable feral cats just a year ago. I'm sure it's just some mental association you've developed in your mind. Fortunately for you, marijuana has a unique quality of allowing unlearning of fears and preconceptions. Its truly ok though if you never like them. I still encourage you to fund your local rescues' spay/neuter programs. After all, if you don't like cats, getting them fixed will mean less cats without anyone needing to be angry or any animals hurt. Its even good for them.
